Default Retarded CAS guy

If i retard the cam angle sensor or the distributor should I increase/advance the cranking ignition timing?

Also backfireing on cranking is too much fuel?

The Adaptronic controls the spark. If you rotated the CAS without telling the ECU you did so your spark timing is going to be WAY off. The ECU might think it's trying to maintain 10° at idle when you might actually be at 0° or -10°. However much you retarded it off from synced, you'll be that retarded through your entire map.

I probably only retarded it 1-3mm, I estimate 1 degree, not much
And yes, I know the entire map will be retarded, its why I did it.
Cant find 98ron fuel so for the meanwhile running on 95ron.

why wouldn't you just retard your spark map then?

Lol at "estimating" spark retatd based on cas rotation. Go buy a timing light before you melt a piston.

Degrees marked out on the cas.
Just wondering if i retard 1 degree, I would advance 1 degree for cranking.

put it back and verify that timing matches what is displayed in the adaptronic and then slap yourself and just remove timing from the whole timing map instead of dicking around with the cas.

Merely adjusting the CAS a degree or two should not make the car hard to start or cause it to backfire. You have either moved it a lot more than you think you have, or something else is the root cause.

When my car was starting really rough and backfiring and I couldn't adjust the CAS enough to time it properly, it was because my newly installed timing belt had slipped a tooth.

+1 This. Makes almost no sense to have a standalone ECU

Should i use the master ignition trim OR 'Select All' on the ignition table (And retard that way).
It was hard to start because the CAS was on 7 degrees - Should be 10 degrees.

I had to take the CAS out about 3 months ago to rebuild it and I just put it back straight in, and to my surprise the car started. Must've marked it pretty good.

I have got the car retuned since, so im thinking I should retard 3 degrees to keep it in check.
The reason I couldnt check the timing before was because I had an oversized crank pulley, and have now gone back to a standard size pulley- where I now have the timing marks. Motor is a 4agze, from Toyota.

Get a timing light.

It sounds like you think the stock 10 degree timing spec has something to do with the CAS. The CAS sets it, but you're pulling timing off the crank, and the CAS is a CAM angle sensor.

Again, get a timing light.

Thanks by the way, for telling us it's not a Miata motor 10 ******* posts into your "help me I'm a retard" thread.

GET A ******* TIMING LIGHT!

I mean did you really think that you could come in here with your shitty grammar and your shitty explanation and think we'd be able to help you? WHO THE **** CAN DIAGNOSIS AN ENGINE PROBLEM WHEN NO ONE KNOWS WHAT ENGINE IT IS?!? ******* moron.

Get a timing light.

Yea I apologize.
I was trying to get the post up before I got to work, so I could read the replies when I got home. Didnt read over what I posted, missed out some important info obviously.

I checked the ignition timing a few hours ago, it was slightly retarded at 7 degrees. Ive put it back to 10 degrees and the car seems to start much easier.
The whole mess started when I had to rebuild the Cam angle sensor.
Ive loaded up the previous tune and it starts and drives pretty good.

Again, sorry, thought I had put Corolla in the first post.

Does the Adaptronic's readings and your actual readings with the timing light coincide now?

master ignition trim should really be zero.

you should get your timing light to match the adaptronic by dithering the trigger offset angles...

whatever is in the timing map should be what the car is actually timed to.
