Default DIY Wiring MX5 Miata mk2 1999 NB 1.8

I have a MX5 Miata mk2 1999 NB 1.8.

I am trying to work out the wiring for the adaptronic harness and dont understand what the R5(0R), R6 (0R) or R7 (DNP) means?

Does it mean If MAF and EGR sensor is not present then just use the MAP?

Also have anyone successfully fitted a VEMS wideband sensor to an Adaptronic? it has an RS232 connector and used the Megalogger software.

VEMS Wideband & EGT Gauge User Guide

Many thanks,

Ninja

0R means use a resistor of 0 ohm (no resistor) and DNP means do not place. I am not familiar with the VEMS wideband although it should work ok so long as its linear.

Thanks for the reply Travis. Also thanks for your reply on the adaptronic. I'm making a pathway to getting the adaptronic but want to make sure there is a plan before i execute.

I was thinking of buying the LC1 and sell the VEMS perhaps its not worth doing.
Would the vems plug into the serial or the loom? Whcih sensor do you select on the Wari menu? Is the serial input for the wideband sensor on the adaptronic digital?

I have starting problems. The cranking speed for my starter motor is 200rpm according to my ecu readout. Is that normal? I have a voltage drop of 10volts from 12volts from the ecu readout I guess I also need to check with a voltmeter.

Normal cranking RPM is more like 250-300 RPM atleast. The voltage drop is about where it needs to be as well.

If you used a VEMS you would have to use a linearized output of the wideband to make it work right. I don't think you could use the serial port at all. The link up for the serial port is actually digital capable, but it might also read analog signals as well, as I'm not sure exactly what every wideband serial port connection uses. I would highly recommend the LC-1. It just plugs in and you never have to worry about it!

I have finally got my Adaptronic in the UK with universal loom. In retrospect I should have bought the 420c with PNP loom from Travis. He is very knowlegable on this area and I would recommend him.

I am seeking clarification on the wiring for my 1999nb. According to the Diagram from adaptronic, the following wires comming from the adaptronic ecu:

EGO Front Signal
Knock Signal
Clutch Switch
Neutral Switch
PSP Switch
RefrigSwitch

Do they need to be spliced to the stock loom or does the cable need to be disconnected from the stock ECU?

The ignition coil wiring. Does this mean I have to switch it around as it states?
IGN1 - Yellow IGN2
IGN2 - Green IGN1

The IGN SWITCH PWR 1B (12volts) on the Car harness. Does it need to be spliced to the IGN SWITCH PWR cable on the ECU as well as the 'IAC Valve +ve' 3M?

I must admit I'm getting there but its not easy.

Thanks for reading this post.

If you are interested in a PNP harness only, you might consider this one.

Thanks but as you can see from the picture I am alsmost there.

I just need clarification on wiring.
