Default VVT car up and running

I got my car up and running on Adaptronic. I started with the BE base map, but used VE tuning instead. Set all the n/a values to 90 and let it autotune. It runs, but does not idle and is hard to start. Working on all that now. Hopefully will have a decent tune before I turbo it.

Feel free to share your maps if they idle and start well. I'll post mine after this weekend of tuning.

Are you using VE for cranking as well? I had a hard time getting mine started until I checked this box to enable it.

Yeah, I'm using VE for crank. It starts up fairly quickly. I still need to work on it though. Also need to work on idle, but the car runs and drives. I can't get the open loop idle to work if the fans turn on, it kills the car most of the time.
I feel like the fans turn on too quickly anyways. They are set to on at 95, off at 90 in the base tune and the thermostat is 90*. I might change it.
I also have no idea what to do with any of the corrections or what to set them to

More tuning today. I attached my map if anyone wants to take a look at it and try to help me out. Here are my main issues:

1) Ok, well it idles semi-reliably now at 1000. It still tries to die when the fans turn on, but I staggered them by a degree so only one comes on at a time and it is a lot better. You would think there would be a way to have the idle effort increase when your fans turn on. It still dies occasionally when I turn some electrical load. I was thinking it might be some of the low rpm cells, but I can't figure out how to tune those very well. I messed with all three electrical load efforts. 1 is only for the PS pump, and neither 2 or 3 do anything.

2) Also, i cannot get a cold start figured out. I'm working on it every morning and when I leave work. Adding and subtracting fuel until it starts and clearing the floods occasionally. I'm gonna try 50%VE tomorrow and see if it works. I have trouble figuring out if it is running rich or lean. For reference, my hot start at 27% works well. It starts after a couple seconds.

Anyone have a working VE crank map?

Well I gave up and hooked up the stock computer for now. I called in reinforcements (Travis). Hopefully he has time to get a street tune working for me

I want to know how many people actually got up and running on the 600cc injector base map. I am hoping mine will because I want to get my turbo on

My car is going to be stock for some time to come. I want to get a good understanding of what i am doing before I start messing with boost. So I won't be any help with the injector side of it all.

Have a great day,
Jared

So is the adaptronics controlling VVT?

BTW I have a pretty good map for a NA 01 motor with wastegate function VVT control.

I have not had a chance to install it yet. Hopefully tomarrow I need to get the wideband o2 sensor installed. Yes it will be controlling the VVT. Post up your file. I will not be running a turbo due to CARB crap that I have to deal with. What is the difference in your map?

Have a great day,
Jared

my car has an 01, but in an earlier 96. due to all the differences in sensors, settings, and wiring, I didn't get VVT working as a PID. so I am currentley using the wastegate PWM function.

I would post the latest but I lost my thumbdrive.

this file is from when I went to the dyno to dial in, at the time I had no VVT working. so keep that in mind. once I got VVT working I just added a little fuel from 60-100kpa in the 2500-5000 range. and autotune dialed it in pretty well. but it has the wastegate setup.

anyway the car is has an 01 with 6 speed, standard I/H/E mods + intake manifold, light cutch and fly. it made 149WHP on a DJ.

see if this works.

I might try that if I can't get mine running. We will see in a couple days. Car is on a lift right now, turbo is going on starting tomorrow

Well turbo is installed, but the map sensor is nonresponsive. It reads the same at every pressure. I am going to try to find a new one tomorrow. Maybe Travis will have one, I left a message with him so hopefully he will get back to me

Well I thought I would update this since I have been driving the car around for a week.

Travis brought a map sensor out to me cuz I broke mine. He also sent me a new tune that got the car starting and idling once I added a bunch of fuel to it. The car is running really well right now with just some weird sensor signals dropping out every now and then, but I think I have a loose ground. I also had to take the intake manifold back apart to reinstall one fuel injector because I bent the electrical connector by accident and it wasn't connecting.

Attached is the current tune as of yesterday. It definitely needs cleaned up, but it runs and lets me go full throttle all the way to redline
