ITT: Peasant Analog Wideband Fuckery

But on a serious note, after using both an UEGO and MTX-L I can say I dislike them both, mainly because of the display. I've also heard a lot of people say they like the AEM because it does not have to warm up and starts displaying immediately, but I'm not convinced its accurate until its warmed up so its kind of a wash.

happy uego user here. sorta.. gauge reads fine but it outputs funny numbers to my aem box and messes with my afrs with o2 control on. I just leave it off as i have a pretty good tune.

^ Lol. "Happy user here. Gauge performs 25% of its duties, sucking at the rest. But I like the pretty colors"

I know that's not what you meant but that's what went through my head

Leaving the wideband off will **** up the sensor very quickly.

I have owned an AEM UEGO with the 4.2 sensor in my WRX. ZERO Issues.

I now have an AEM UEGO with the 4.9 for the miata.

At my buddies shop we run AEM on all customer's cars when they ask for a wideband. We have had zero returned to us and no issues that i know of. You must have received a crap one.

He's got the EGO control turned off... IIRC.

TS is configured to use a Custom Linear WB with the following values:
Point 1: 0.00v = 10 AFR
Point 2: 4.99v = 19.40 AFR

It took a bit of testing and trial/error but other than the response time in TS being much slower that the gauge reads, I'd say 70% of the time the AFR values match, and the other 30% of the time they're off by .1.

AEM is .1 richer than TS, IIRC.

Pretty sure I still have my testing notes around here as well.. if you're interested in them?

Just let me know and I can provide more info for you?
Ill give these values a try this weekend. I plugged in the values from 18PSI and just went with them. I am lazy and don't want to do the trial and error method to figure out the correct values. All else fails being slightly richer then expected won't really hurt anything.

Honestly it took about 20 minutes from the driver's seat to dial it in via trial and error.

Here are my raw notes:
default .3 off (ts > wideband)

4.5 to 19.98
.6 off

4.99 to 19.50
.2 off

4.99 to 19.40
.1 off ts > wbo

TS was always greater than the WB. So yes, a bit richer... and of course (as Vlad points out repeatedly!) your results may vary.

Correct i have the wbo2 Still hooked up to power and ground so i can use the gauge but the output 0-5v does strange things when i have ego control on. so i have it turned of.

I have also used a few aem units on clients cars. usually failsafes for the boosted cars and 4100 for N/A setups. no problems.
