Hello,
I am working on my Miata turbo home-brew and would appreciate any info from members running the AEM FIC6.

My setup is/will be:
2000 NB stock engine
China charger t25-28
intercooled
460cc RX7 injectors
AEM FIC6 and Boomslang
Lab grade wide band O2 sensor and sender

I have a history with forced induction and tuning, so I am just trying to get my bearings on using the FIC6 specifically with a 2000 Miata. Any information regarding the hex files and table vales would be greatly appreciated.

It is all out there if you search. My FIC was used, and already had the hex files loaded for my application. You want the batch fire hex file. I just used the injector change fuel map function and it worked great with the exception of needing to tweak the map at the starting values. The rest of the maps didn't need to change at all. With the FIC, it doesn't always work the way AEM tries to teach you. They have stopped development on the unit and the support is only fair (ask for Bo). However, with some research and a few guys who helped out, I find it works very well for a piggyback. It is very easy to adjust/tune once you get the right strategy.

Thank you very much for the reply. I have been searching and it looks like mikeymx5 has the most fic knowledge. I am an engineer and have a lot of data logging and setup experience. That being said, learning from others is always a great way to start. my parts just started showing up today, so i can start documenting my budget build.

I am trying to find maps from people who have had good luck. If anyone has one or a link to posted maps someplace else.

Within the FIC instructions it gave a rule of thumb that you will need 125 percent more fuel at 10psi. I simply interpolated this over my map and it gave a reasonable starting point. My M45 was running 6 psi tops, so my map wasn't that tall. Since I am going turbo, I'll have to redefine the MAP column to include a higher upper limit. I also went ahead and pulled .75 degrees of timing after 1 psi boost for each additional psi. These worked well enough to start a cautious street tuning process. The NB has a knock sensor and the factory ECU will pull some timing when it senses knock, but the range is not sufficient to cover when you are boosting.

Thanks again for the information. I'll make sure to use those rules as a baseline.

Do you run an EGT? I have read a lot of post about cracked manifolds and exhaust parts. I know that everything is crap if its not made by FM, but I think we may have a lot oh high exhaust temps helping the problem along. That and you know the thing about boost being like potato chips!

I am still looking for FIC6 info from anybody who is using one. Specifically looking for maps up to 10 psi with 460cc injectors. I know I might be dreaming to find someone with a similar setup but I think it's worth asking.
