Quit thread-bating and turbo your car already. I've only got a few posts more than you and I've had my miata turbo'd for 9 months....and I got my miata in Feb '08.

OK, first hand experience with BEGI.
1st order- Bipes for JSRC- a little late spring 2007
2nd order- S3 GT2860 w/Xede- most hardware delivered in 5 weeks, Xede delivered 4weeks later, one part (rubber inlet hose) took multiple calls to get the right peace but once the right peace was identified it was expressed to my door. Ordered 1-??-2008 complete, installed and racing 4-19-2008.
3rd order- 3" cat and cat-back in SS 5-??-2008- delivered a little after date quoted, maybe 2 or 3 weeks
4th order- walbro 190lph HP - ordered last week- has not been delivered, not worried!
BEGI is a high quality small job shop that can not quite keep up with the demand for their products (good position to be in). I'm very happy BEGi products and have learned to deal with the time factor.

Ok, from the horses' mouth..... For little parts, we usually ship on time. For turbo systems, they are usually late for one reason or another. *Usually* no more that a week or so. However, if I know of a pressing need for a specific "deliver by date", 9 out of 10 I can usually make the deadline. That said, I have to confirm with suppliers that parts are available before I can tell you we can make the deadline. We will not be the fastest to get a custom part made, but we can build quality stuff to your specs.
You say you want to use a GT2871? It might take extra time to get it made. We will probably make the downpipe off of the turbo and manifold. So the turbo has to be here first. This to to ensure that the stuff will still fit with the (possibly larger) turbo. The turbo gets ordered when the deposit is made. I think my new turbo supplier has this one in stock, but I am not certain. I remember him saying that he has the 2871's that are interchangeable for the GT2860's I think.
Lead times change weekly. You will need to call, e-mail, or IM to confirm them.

Hmm...not sure what you consider big, but if you think BEGi is a big shop I've got something to show your gf.
Having visited them last Thursday I can attest that they are a small shop. Much smaller than I expected, but they were definitely moving. It looked like a couple of full-time experienced hands, and a few local high school (maybe older) kids bending and cutting. I'm sure it's quite a workload for Corky to do design, development, customer service, fabrication, and instruction/supervision.
Having seen the jigs for their downpipes around the shop, and a few DPs and intercoolers in process, it doesn't appear that they are outsourcing much. They would have to confirm this, but I believe they only outsource their castings.
Either way they definitely try to make quality parts that will perform. Dealing with job shops all day long at work (steel fastener/flange industry) I can tell you that everyone has problems meeting delivery dates, and the smaller the operation, the worse it usually is. We only keep outsourcing to some of these shops just because it means the final product will exceed customer expecatations.

Small we are. We have 5 full time employees and two part time.
To set the record straight, we are not like other turbo vendors, we do not 100% outsource a damn thing on our turbo kits! Everything is modified or made in house from as many made in USA products as possible. The screws and nuts come from overseas, I cannot help that. If the part is not designed, made by, or modified by BEGI, it is disclosed.
*Intercoolers are made by us, from cores made in NY.
*Turbos are made by Garrett and modified by us for fit.
*Cast iron manifolds were designed by us, cast by a foundry in Texas, and machined in house by us in house.
*S4 manifolds were designed by us, outsourced overseas, machined and modified by BEGI.
*FMU's are designed by us, made by a CNC'er here in Texas, assembled and tested by BEGi.
*Downpipes are designed by us, made from materials made in CA or China, flanges are laser cut by a Texas company, everything is assembled and welded in house.
*Turbos and manifolds are ceramic coated by a company in Texas.
*Tubes are powdercoated in house or by a company in Texas.
*Tubes are fabricated and welded in house. U bends are made in CA, 90 degree elbows come from china via a company in CA.
*Radiator covers are laser cut by a company here in Texas.
*filters are made by K&N or Amsoil.
*Turbo hose is bought from a company in the US, however it is made in Mexico.
*t-bolt clamps typically come from Clampco.
*Gauge mounts are made by an individual here in Texas.
*Boost gauges are made by Autometer.
*Wideband gauges are made by Innovate.
*Bypass valves come from Mitsubishi
*air boxes, heat shields, scoopers, are all 100% fabricated in house.
*Stainless oil lines are assembled/crimped in house. Made from supplies manufactured in CA and/or overseas.
*Miscellaneous hardware come from Texas suppliers but is probably made elsewhere. ie. rubber hoses, hardware, etc..
We are very proud of the fact we use "made in USA" products where ever possible for major components and do not outsource fabricated pieces (except S4 manifold). I am certain that Garrett has some of their stuff cast in Mexico these days, however we choose to use the "name brand".
As for 'out of spec', we can make just about anything, but it will take time. We allow customizing of kits because we make it in house and can change things. No other turbo supplier/seller can make changes like we can.

Maybe choosing to provide customers with a more realistic time line for delivery is the smart thing to do. Or give no promise at all. Managing customer expectations is key, I'd rather disappoint a potential customer than disappoint an existing customer. Might make a quick sale saying that the kit will be ready in two weeks, or faster than the competition. But when that promise isn't met I'll start to shop elsewhere.

Thanks for responding Stephanie. I appreciate your honesty in that delays happen frequently. I know your parts are high-end and custom in some cases so I know it is expected. I think I will purchase from you/Begi as long as we can agree on what is a reasonable amount of time for delivery.
I want to reiterate that I am very grateful for a company like Begi that makes custom parts for our cars and in no way was this suppose to be Begi bashing thread. I only hope that my parts are not delayed beyond what I believe to be a reasonable amount. I'll contact you Stephanie in the next few days to purchase my order. Thanks for responding.
