Default BEGI help? I believe I have a bad FMU.

I started this thread on M.net:
http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=419754

Now it's come down to the FMU and I'm not quite sure what to do.

I sent Stephanie an email with the following a few days ago, but no response.

Corky was kind enough to jump in and let me know that I've got a very early model which is more prone to failure. It's been on the car for a few years and about 35,000 miles at 10psi on 305cc injectors. I still need to switch the gauge over to the correct fuel line, but there are two symptoms that are leading me to believe it's the FMU. The first issue is that I'm running lean in boost, it isn't getting enough fuel to keep the mixture rich. I used to see a consistent 10.5-11 AFR under boost, but now it tries to get low, but crawls up to around 15! The next issue I've noticed is that when I get in boost at WOT, I notice a funny smell. It is noticeable. So I popped the hood and it definitely seems to be coming from the FMU. Of course I back off, but it is something that needs to be fixed.
I asked what the next step should be. Rebuilt it/get it rebuilt? Get an updated unit? Etc. Any help here?
