Default Turbo Studs

Quick update on the turbo studs situation. We have a few customers with 304 stainless studs testing them now. We just received the Inconel studs. They are being shipped to the customer for testing. We should know more in a few weeks. I am keeping my fingers crossed that everything works as expected!

What head studs and turbo studs does begi recommend for Daily driving and DE events. The head is not on the engine yet and I have a new begi manifold bought of this site ready to go on. Now would be the time to upgrade. Are people just drilling the manifold and head and retapping or are they using helicoils?

The stock head studs are fine for street applications. (I am assuming you mean exhaust head to manifold studs.) If you need replacements, any auto parts store will have it. For daily driving, the regular grade 5 or grade 8 studs are just fine. They are not subject to enough extreme heat to stretch.

The manifold and exhaust head should not need re tapping. On the exhaust head, reuse what it already there. If the manifold is tapped for 8 mm studs, I highly recommend that you get them re-tapped for 10 mm studs. But you will also have to enlarge the holes on the turbine casting. Helicoils are generally not necessary.

Nope. Just the 10 mm so far. I will ask if the 8 mm is one we should do also.
