A couple childish stupid reasons.
I do not care to lower ride height.
I also know i am far to cheap to buy very high quality coilovers which leaves me cheap ones I had BC coilovers on my old sti I did not enjoy them at all granted i did daily drive the car.
A solid strut spring combo is what I want in my head. Unless there is a very very big benefit of going with xxx coilovers then of course i would consider it.

it really depends.
this doesnt look like it will be a daily driver
and it certainly won't be a twisties carver or road racer
so the only thing left is highway pulls or something
I'd suggest the "budget bilstein" setup, but technically it's a "coilover"
if this thing hooks like it should, it will squat like crazy, and you'll need to be able to raise ride height if needed
.........there are only 1 set of springs for these cars that are not utter junk. FM
this doesnt look like it will be a daily driver

Vmaxxes arnt bad, a step above ricelands, and not too expensive. lifetime warranty (i think). For what you are doing, I think theyll suffice.

If you had a subaru, I could point you to a drag specific suspension, with lateral links from a different car.... but sadly i don't know anything about a miata drag suspension...
All I know, is you want to maintain as close to zero toe and camber throughout the rear suspension travel, and have enough squat to minimize hop, but not too much, or your launches and 60 foot suffers.
maybe have slightly positive camber at rest?

Well had some starting issues i think my current oem harness is just to beat up many clips broken many places where i hacked in and was unhappy. So tore it back apart and ordered a new harness that will have only the connections i need. It will also have a "mill spec" connector to the firewall so i am excited to play with the fancy connector.
Since i was getting a upgraded harness i decided it was also the correct time to switch from a janky oem 3 coilpack wasted spark setup with an ignitor to a aem smart coil setup.
There is a company that makes a bracket but wants $250 and it does not fit right with the VVTI head so i decided that I will design up my own and give it a shot first before resorting to paying that much for the bracket.
Here is where i am currently with it after 1-2 hours of playing with it unsure how happy i am with it yet.
