I played with it and cut a small piece of scrap tubing and a scrap piece of coupler to make an extension. It is not ideal but it won't bug me in the back of my mind either.
It was actually more of an offset than a kink. Not to mention **** was rubbing on places I never intended.
I will post a log after work and we can see that you guys are right.

As you guys predicted, it doesn't spool any sooner with the offset kink gone.
It feels very different with power coming on more suddenly but later. Also sounds different, maybe more intake noise. I will be playing with my VE table for a few days although it is not very different, also dialing in EBC.

Does that mean you want a ride? I wouldn't mind meeting you Twibs, I am in Marin and have heard of you, I know you made NigelT's car happen. Send me a pm and you can get in before my rods exit the block, I might go to Sears Point tomorrow, but not sure.

Ran my best time yet and dialed the EBC in pretty similar to the old turbo. The 60ar compressor gives up nothing in the1/4 mile, but on the highway is a different story.
I need to finish my taxes now, but I will see when I can get on the dyno, hopefully in the next week or 2.
I am car 75, the slip on the left is against an old school Camaro, the slip on the right an older WRX.
Finally got 13's and 102

I was having some trouble with oscillation on my EBC during spool up. It was fine running through the gears but spooling would give me oscillation. I think it was mostly because I tried to use the old turbo settings as a starting point, big mistake! So tonight it looked much better, only one good log and I started from 3rd but this would have given me the problem before. A couple more runs to get it right, then I will call the dyno.
Sorry it's taking so long Lars.

Got an appointment with the same dyno as last time. Unfortunately they can't fit me in until 3 weeks from tomorrow. I plan to make sure we are getting an RPM reading before we finish the first pull.
I made a nice switch to disable EBC on the fly from the drivers seat. Will that be sufficient Lars, it works flawlessly?
I also adjusted my boost targets to match my last dyno's boost curve with EBC on.
The one thing that seems pretty obvious is that my top end IAT's are consistently lower.

Small, fast spooling turbo set-ups are pretty popular with these cars. Its nice to have some comparison with some larger compressors. Its nice to have a set-up available that may spool a little later, but saves the stress on the block.

Fixed. But its nice to see someone offering to test both of these back to back with all other components involved remaining as a control, great data points. Continuing to check this for updates.

A switch to turn on and off ebc is more then fine. One thing you may want to do is look into hooking up both wastegate ports, might be able to help with EBC a little bit.
I like to have options for customers. Carlos has been very supportive about being able to test things for me. It also is real world data coming from the west coast, so its not like I can be skewing it in any way.

I think the new port style is what caused me to need to alter my CL EBC settings so much because I have been having similar problems with NigelT's car. I basically copied his wastegate porting, maybe a bit smaller, hoping he will try some new settings soon and perhaps add weight to my hypothesis.
Happy to have the opportunity to try this out for you Lars.
For the record I have never even met Lars, although you are welcome to stay here if you ever make it to SF. It would be nice to meet you one day.
Thanks again for the awesome kit! My car is actually becoming popular at the local drag strip. The nice woman who hands out the time slips was excited to give me my last slip when I missed 3rd and was over half a second off my dial in time. I said no way I won I missed third and she said no, but your fans still love you.

That was actually 3rd gear, just posted because I was happy my EBC was finally behaving.
It was a few back but in 4th on flat ground starting at 2k it reaches 14-15psi by about 4k. About 1k slower than the smaller turbo.

Honestly I like the smaller one better, I was just starting to get my top end boost where I wanted it, when I swapped.
It's Lars' turbo so I don't have a link.
My 1/4 mile times are all in the first 60' as I am learning how to launch this thing.

I bet I'll get some grief for this, but try playing with your wastegate can adjustment some. I was able to maintain over 200kpa to about 6500 with the smaller turbo. I run EBC too so I was at 14 or 15psi by around 3k IIRC.
When I switch back eventually, I plan to increase the wastegate preload another 1/2 turn.

Ignore my previous ramblings. You are referencing boost for your wastegate can post IC right?
Are you running EBC?
If yes and yes, then perhaps consider my previous post and retune EBC to match.
