Excellent progress! I'm hoping to make a tube for the reroute on mine as well (when I get to that point). Do you have any reservations about the tube anchoring to the chassis instead of the engine, or are the rubber hoses at the ends enough to combat any movement from the engine?

I would strongly consider rebuilding the tabs so it fastens to the engine. You've got a rigid aluminum pipe attached to the chassis in one place (does not move) and to the engine at one end (moves a bunch). Not a good recipe for reliability

wouldn't the rubber portions allow movement?

That's why he used normal radiator hose sections on either end so that this won't be an issue. I see nothing wrong here.

I figured the stock hose configuration is the same as mine except I moved the flexing hose to the rear. The only issue I ran into was clutch hard line clearance. I solved it by using a long flex hose for the clutch and removing the factory curled hard line and bracket at the transmission. The hose at the rear also curves up to clear the AC lines and engine wiring.

So far, all is well. I'm still taking it to the track and beating the snot out of it.
I noticed a smell of coolant after one session and found this:

After three years, the soft aluminum fitting was bending and leaked at the collar. I bought new fittings and ground one of the barbs down on each one.

installed and good to go.

I'm still completely distracted by all the pics of water jet sexiness earlier in the thread

Nice to hear its hold up, and good thing you caught that when you did.

I have been having an issue with high idle. After searching for vacuum leaks I found that the throttle body has a screw loose where the idle set screw rests. I readjusted the idle set screw and it broke. I replaced all the screws with stainless and I used a nylon lock nut and thread-locker.

Looks like Leafy was right about the Skunk2 throttle body "Devil Screw". I'm surprised that Skunk2 used crappy hardware for idle screw and idle screw rest.

I'm not. Junk2 is called that for a reason. I also happen to think their "miata specific" tb is lazy work at best, lol

*edit: you are AWESOME. Thanks

I figured I would post up my tune in case others need help or to see the settings I am using. Cheers!

That is the very first miata that I think sounds good to me.

Very throaty and deep sounding! How similar to the videos is it in person?

I wouldn't mind if mine sounded like that!

I've got the same exhaust; I'll sell you the axleback. It was too loud for me unless that's because of the 4.10 rear end and hitting 113Hz resonance at 3400RPM on the highway.

I'm waiting on MTnet approved muffler now. My tinnitus would be proud.

I'm guessing a lot of the deepness comes from all the turbo hotside parts. I'm still na. I'm staying stock exhaust while I'm na.

What are the complete specs for the exhaust? Header type, diameter from the turbo, any resonators and what size? Muffler?

I will duplicate the exact exhaust. I'm very picky when it comes to sound.

Duplicate Gordon's (EO2K). It's very similar, and the best one I've heard in person. He posted all the specs and tons of pics in his thread

Thanks for the comments!
The exhaust was built by Abe of ARTech. 3" stainless with magnaflow resonator and muffler.

Yeah, 99mx5 is using a somewhat smaller muffler than the MT approved model.

Thanks!

Although, I guess because I'm not using the single path Magnaflow am I using an MT approved muffler? Can we add my dual path to the muffler holy trinity?

I'll make a video of the exhaust and stick my foot in it for the business sound. This car has been and remains too stoopid to use errryday.
