A buddy of mine ran his car for two track days consecutive on a lesser tranny oil. By the end I couldn't get the thing in third gear without a slight grind. Drove it home like that. Figured that synchro was gone.
On a whim, we decided to put the motorcraft in just to see what happens. No more grind. I'm a believer.

Syncromesh is the only reason im not on my third trans. So far, i get about 20 track days on a change.

Dash looks like mine after every track day. Im going to make it a habit to scratch 18 into it and take a picture every time. We could start a photo collection and call it "forever 18".

Someone should start a thread just on this. I'd love to see how anyone has done this. On my car the downpipe is close to the transmission near the bellhousing.

I am a huge believer in AMSoil. My engine internals in my Subie after 61K of AMSoil was very healthy. My buddies shop that built the engine couldn't believe there was 61K on my internals prior to the build.

Currently running AMSoil Dominator Oil, Tranny Fluid and Syncromesh.

GM made some **** transmissions, they wouldnt shift, they were recalled, sycromesh fluid was "the fix". Any s10 with an NVxx00 trans wont shift worth a **** without it.

It works great to limp along failing synchros in other trannys. You can also just add the friction package on its own.

What I'd like to know is how are you guys getting away with running that Syncromesh stuff (which is a 5w-30) when the manual calls for 75w-90 which a lot thicker...

There was a great article about the trans fiasco in the early 90s, and why syncromesh was invested, i think penzoil came up with it, california is mentioned... cant ******* find it now.

drain trans, install syncromesh, track car for 2 seasons with 2 drivers in 2 different classes. win at life.

<p>I know about it. Hailey's jeep has an NV3550. We seriously thought the thing was dead at 150k. Wouldn't stay in gear, barely would go in gear.</p><p>I did a kerosene flush and syncromesh and it was like brand new.</p><p>Saved &gt;500$</p>
