So I've never paid to change my oil. But I wasn't laying in the snow in -10* weather to do the Jeep oil.
Are all fluid change places created equal? Or will I get better luck with somewhere that I make an appt and send the Jeep there. Over somewhere with a guy in a pit slinging fluids.

Now, I change myself when I can (weather) and use a local small shop when I can't for both mine and my wife's car. Finding that local small shop when you don't live there is tough.
Most of the chains move through too many people quickly to give a **** about your car. IMHO.

I found a small chain who were helpful over the phone. Offered to drive her to work or whatever when she dropped off her car. I'm going to give them a shot. I'm also sending my gf in alone to get it changed, but she knows her way around this stuff so I'm not to worried.
We also got a big crack in the windshield on the way over. It's growing nightly by a couple inches. Luckily there is a safelite in town and I'm just going to pay over the phone and send them to where the Jeep is when she's in class.
In Miata news I now have more time that I should to devote to the car. I'm going to be finishing up my manifold, and the front of the car first. And as soon as my engine is ready get started on that. Probably will have the 1.6 setup pulled in the next few weeks (which will be for sale btw) and then work on engine bay prep.
Been doing a lot of research on the racepak and will be doing a detailed write-up when I get it in. I'm excited to play with it and see what I can do.

Oil change places make most of their money scaring people who don't know as much about their cars into repairs and parts replacement they don't need or don't need right away. Many lose money on the oil change itself as a loss leader. Sometimes they try to scare people by telling them their vehicles are unsafe and they can't let them leave in that condition or the shop would be liable. Be forewarned.

What he said, they DON'T make money on oil changes, even AR hardly does. You could get someone knowledgeable like you are, or you could get a UTI drop out (or graduate). Or someone who's choice was jiffy lube or McDonalds.

Spent some time in the machine shop today. Made a blockoff plate for the VVT actuator to send to powdercoat so I don't get any contaminates in the VVT actuator.
Also milled out the hole in the valve cover to allow for more gas flow between the baffle chambers.

Bought a Nissan.
Don't have any pics. 1999 G20. SR20DE. 150k. Got it for cheap. Jetta will be for sale.
Also signed up for Redline Time Attack at PIR in June. Hilarity will ensue. Have heard that multiple first time track drivers have somehow signed up.

My buddy has an obsession with g20's, dude's my age and last I checked he's had about 20 of them. That was about a year ago so I'm guessing it's a higher number now. He parts them out or flips them mostly but he;s got a couple that he keeps around. One has a decent sized turbo. Dude's crazy but he knows those cars like nothing else.
