Honestly, Bobs car just looks like another white NA with a turbo unless you really know what to look for.

It looks like a white NA with blue stripes and a wing that just passed you in turn 11 and is RAPIDLY DISAPPEARING INTO THE DISTANCE down the front straight at Laguna.

His car is so confusing. I got to see it when he went to KO for a bit of tune tweaking before M@MRLS. It looks exactly as described above, with a side of street car, with a large helping of becauseracecar. It looks very well-worn, but as you look closer you can tell it's also very well-maintained.

Didn't get to watch a dyno pull, but it's pretty awesome anyway.

My drivers fender just developed the most for awful squeak. Happens at any rev. Sitting in traffic makes me want to kill myself.

<p>So now that I have a 6 speed and maybe a 1.8, a motor build is on the horizons. Rough plans are 9.5-10.5 compression. Ebay rods. Whatever front damper I get the cheapest, some sort of trigger wheel. New oil/water pump. Probably some sort of valve train upgrade. I'm going to just start shopping for deals and if something pops up I'll take it. Going to keep my MS, light flywheel. And get some sort of clutch. Right now I'm liking the look of the clutchnet 500ft/lb clutch for less than an FM Stage 9001. Turbo will be some sort of cheap turbo, probably a small holset. And another craptacular home built manifold. All this will be done while I'm still trying to upgrade brakes so it won't be happening anytime soon. Thoughts?</p>

Seems like an odd compression ratio to target. Turbo wants less, NA wants more, but the middle doesn't really suit anything?

Arent they the ones that make the FM clutches?</p><p>And I've been doing a lot of reading other places and 8.5 comp is pretty low nowadays for a turbo build. With good fueling and proper engine management you can make higher comp work just fine. Plus as we get more access to E85 it just gives me even more ways to make better power.</p><p>Yank is running a high comp+EFR FE3 build and is loving it. Way more lowend and better spool. I don't want to go such high comp that I have to run E85 full time but I want more than just an old 8.6:1 build.</p>

That's the point... if you run somewhere in the between 9 and 11:1, it's a compromise. For turbo on pump you want to be just below 9. On E85 you want to be well over 10 or even 11.

Mine is either 8.6 or 9:1. I'd still make more power on E85, but on pump it's a good place to be.

</p><p>Basically spending some time talking to some of my BMW buddies and others 8.6:1 compression is &quot;so last year&quot;. You can run higher compression on pump gas because of how much aftermarket engine management has improved. Especially with a good knock sensor. Its going to be a lot more research but from what I've read other places 10:1 on pump gas works just fine with good intercooling, fueling, and maybe some water/meth.</p>
