If you had a trans jack I bet you wouldn't even need the plug

Dumping the fluid while removing the engine/trans is the only way mine gets changed.

Bought it, stripped out under its own weight, promptly returned.

With some work, it can be made not bad, like most things from HF. I wasnt in the mood to rework a $60 tranny jack.

Tranny plug is a must. Just grabbed Mitch's 1.6 driveshaft to hack up for a second. Although I think I've passed my busiest Miata season I'll ever have, but there were a few months there where i could of used 2-3 plugs.

Don't forget old lower boots to cover the shifter hole with a well cut piece of rubber.

Do you pull the shifter to pull the trans?

Yes.

The other trick to make it go easier is to take the PPF off the tranny (which you need to do anyway) and then tilt the motor so the tranny tailshaft is pointing down. Gives a bunch more clearance to get at the bolts.

So I need a few of these:
http://www.mcmaster.com/#92375a002/=y5h0i0
For my wastegate arm. I'd rather not buy 25 so if anyone knows where else to get them let me know. I'll probably just order them though.

At $3 for a pack of 25, I'm not sure it's worth looking much further. You'll pay more than that in shipping no matter where you get it from.

When I lost my wastegate retention clip I replaced it with a bit of safety wire. Worked great until I replaced the whole thing with an EWG.

Ace hardware, fastenall, Lowe's, home depot racing etc. They're not uncommon, unless you have to have them in ss.

I wish there was McMaster prime.
I used a safety pin, and now a paper clip. Figured why not go full baller and get a stainless steel pin.

I don't actually need it. Just joking there. I'll pick a few up on the way home.
Also got some nylock nuts for the hood pins. That could have been real bad.
Getting a hole saw to make a new cop bracket also. Changing the orientation of the harness.
Wire and connectors get here wed. Trans comes out tonight.
Auto-x on Sunday.

Default Community build thread...Aidan occasionally does the things

Thanks Aidan. I have the next month of so maybe I can get some work done on the Mazda and the truck... and the bikes for that matter, in between naps and feedings. Maybe I'll post a finished pic in my thread. You guys don't want to see that build thread lol.
