I don't use a check valve and don't need one. If you open up valve cover ports I don't think k you need one either. Pcv valve is check valve, no need two.

Does the engine not pull enough vacuum to open it?
Check valve acts as PCV. I tried the one you got, and it didn't work for me.
Check valve did.

check valve or PCV, not both. PCV have been known to go shitty over time and not seal 100%, check valves last, seal better.

I disagree!

A PCV is inherently a check valve, if it don't check valve, it needs to be replaced.

Any other check valve in the way will mess with PCV action, it's sized and weighted with a certain spring for the reasons Sean is finding out. I was considering it but I don't have issues so I don't bother, If I opened up valve cover ports I know for a fact it'd be unnecessary.

With them new rings I'd be upset if I were popping the dipstick with only this PCV valve.

Why do you still have the AC evaporator in the car? The delete pipe is like $15 from Mazda.

I haven't wanted to pull the dash yet, I'm waiting till I'm ready to rework my wiring harness. I plan to use one of those pass thru bulkhead connectors, so the dash will need to be out.

I didn't know you could still get the pipe though, I think someone offered me one for $30 the other day, and I said screw that. $15 is better, I like $15.

$15 is what I remember it costing, but that was a few years ago, and it was from Mazdaspeed with the racer discount. AFAIK they still sell it, because people are still building Spec Miatas.

Does the NA dash have to come out to get the evaporator out? On my NB it only required pulling the glove box and the little metal bracket that goes across underneath it.

I guess you don't have to pull the dash. Huh, wonder how much room that would make me, I need to go eyeball things.

My glovebox broke off long ago, I really need to find a new dash or chop the bottom off mine.

Its seriously tons of room. Plus the holes in the firewall where the AC used to run make great openings for wire runs.

I got mine from Rosenthal, it came with the rubber plugs as well. It wasn't $15 though.

FYI (this is for a NB, but the NA part can't be much different)

With the rubber plugs is about $5-10 more (don't remember).

Its totally worth it. It radically increases the volume of air through the vent system. If you don't have AC, this is pretty much required if you want airflow.

FWIW Rosenthal lists the one part number for 90-05
