Mine is on an intercooler pipe just after the intercooler. I drilled and tapped it, then screwed it in with RTV silicone as thread sealer. I have heard of drilling and tapping the outlet tank of the intercooler but it is a little more difficult to clean the metal shavings out of it. You can just screw in a pipe plug in the old location you are removing it from to close it off.

I might replace the two bits of intercooler pipe with stainless and reweld my flanges.. see how it is then..

What settings did you end up with for the rev limiter?

You didn't need very cold plugs, just gapping down the electrode. Well, a little colder than stock is good. I think the most common is BR7KE or BRKE7 or something.

ill have to double check man but i think it was 6 out of 8 with a spark only cut. not sure if that's good for the engine though... i have those plugs in now i gapped them down to .7mm which is just under .03'' and the car runs way smoother!

im still having issues with my mat.. i havent moved it yet but i fear there may be something else rather than heat soak at play..here are two logs. one is a 10 to 100 mph pull and the second is a log of the idle afterwqards.. i was waatching the MAT guage on the laptop and it would jump from 4 degrees to 16 degree and back in a second.. hopefully its just a wiring issue

Just read this thread end to end, nice build, exactly what I want to do.

Side note, what are the measurements on your wheels? They look good

long time no update!

Found some rust so ordered some repair panels to fix it

In the meantime this happened

bit more work done.

Oil Leak!!

Cleaned all the subframe and engine for painting. there was an oil leak from the turbo so thats sorted now. should have panels today or tomorrow. the end is in sight. I also depowered the steering rack so i wont be pushing fluid around for no reason.

Feckin car is off the road more often than not.

Car was running nicely while it was on the road, pulled without missing a beat. i picked up an EGT sensor so that should provide important feedback. Then the clutch had a poo so im fittting an Exedy Paddle Clutch this week. i also fitted some BC Racing Coilovers and they are mint!

This is what it looked like just before i took it apart again.

Made a little more progress with the car last night.

Bought a repair plate from ebay for reasonable money, and cut it out to fit.

theres the patch welded in for the most part. it still needs a few bits tidied but its almost there.

Before you go to say '' those welds are crap '' please don't, i know they are. its the first time i've ever welded car panels or anything substantial for that matter. i still need to make a section for the edge but its coming along nicely.

Update time. I was in the garage all day and cracked on with the drivers side.

im happy with it, and any blemishes will be covered by the stone chip.

i also picked up the track tyres and painted my daisies in anticipation

We then made a start on the passo side
