So new problem . I recently pulled the motor to fix a leaky oil pan gasket. I got everything back together, and when I started it up, the car is idling around 2000, fluctuating sometimes up to 2800 rpm. It's pulling ~17mmHG vacuum at idle (used to be over 20). So OK, must be a vac leak somewhere. I pressurized the system up to around 10-15psi and I am getting some air flowing out of the catch can. The catch can was also about 1/2 full of oil (not sure if this is normal or not). I'm running a PCV valve from a 323 to a catch can. I was able to blow through 1 side of the PCV valve, so I believe it is functioning properly. I also tried removing it from the system entirely, which didn't fix the idle issue.

Here's an old pic of the engine bay showing how I have my catch can routed for reference:

Any ideas? The car ran fine before.

You need to cap the pcv port on the manifold- based on the pic.

Why? This is how it was before, and it was working fine.

where does the manifold side of the pcv system going?

it looks from your description that both sides of the Valve cover go to the catch can and thats where the pcv is.... but im unsure about where the manifold side goes from the description....

I capped the port the PCV is routed to in stock form on the IM.

I just did another boost leak test with the valve cover off, and it seems like one or more of the valve seals is leaking. When I pulled the spark plugs out, cylinders 2 and 3 had a little bit of oily residue on them. If it's not one thing it's another..... boy do I have good luck!

Yeah I misunderstood him- it is capped off on the manifold. Everything was new, and the car's been running fine for 2 weeks now.

*edit* that is an old pic of the engine right after i mounted the catch can, hence why things are missing from the engine (like that cap for instance)

Price?

Any fears of throttle-lift catastrophic detonation?

Gonna fix the fuel pump or whatever **** that causes that?

Motor mounts? See this video: http://www.automobilemag.com/multime...287/index.html
About halfway in, you can see the engine moving by about a foot in between shifts.

I would like one but I already have two cars.

It's got a full warranty until 90k, so no worries.

Don't park under oak trees. My MS3 was virgin until today ... now my roofs got about 70 shallow dings in it.

Also, if the car doesn't already have one get an intake and if your wallets healthy a reflash. The COBB shorty intake, turbo inlet and reflash made a world of difference on my car. It also, however, voided my warranty.

With 30k it's probably a little late, but if you do a lot of highway driving and the front end is currently chip free it's worth investing in some 3m film. These cars have a lot of vertical area on the nose which takes a beating. My first 3 had severe chipping on the front end all the way up to the mid plane on the hood at 50K.

Great Job

Have you installed a restrictor in the right hose, which would run to the stock intake pipe? The hole in the stock restrictor is about 1mm.

How much oil pressure are you running with your ms pump?

no restrictor, but i don't see how that would help in any way. Oil pressure is normal

You don't want a restrictor with boost- you want the tube to vent at it's full potential. Restrictor would hurt not help.

that tree is an optical illusion, it's out in the yard a bit. It's 100% stock, gonna keep it that way for a bit (got the extended bumper to bumper warranty). There is really not much chipping on the front, which is surprising. Again, not really gonna do anything to it. If I can do a reflash and still stay off the radar I'd consider doing that

Without restrictor you suck more oil mist and maybe you have more vac.

Here are some explanations:
