How is the front/rear balance with that wing and splitter combo?

Needs work. Main problem was with my suspension setup not working well with it. Wrong spring rates and such. I just ordered a full tubular setup with heims and will be running a different shock package. Should work much better

Inboard heim joints at the front (keep ball joints), and inboard/outboard in back?

It's interesting to see how track cars use Delrin or heim joints, which essentially defeats Mazda's toe-in geometry with the Miata, where the outside rear wheel toes in during a turn. There are trade-offs with any decision, and the decision to go tubular/heim will yield much more precise handling and less unsprung weight at the expense of NVH...an easy choice.

Some updated pictures:

Patiently awaiting delivery. The rear knuckles are also modified to drop the car even more and correct suspension geometry. This setup is incredible. Hoping to run at around 3" from the pinch welds! Here is the man doing his thing, by far the fastest and cleanest miata i have EVER seen.

Bump, big plans and big changes.

I should be receiving the new motor in a few weeks along with my new Garrett GTX that is coming. My shocks should be here sometime in early April. The motor we plan to run will be the Honda F22C AP2 motor (Yes, a Honda motor). Will be running around 400-500hp depending what weight we can get the car to.

The car will be getting a custom front subframe/trans mounts/turbo setup/v-mount/cage from my friend at The Arc Asylum. Some pictures of his weld:

Lot's of updates coming soon, I plan to document the entire build here.
Future plans we might decide to make a F20/F22 swap kit!

Damn. A well-setup turbo F22C with that kind of rubber and sorted aero should be insanely fast. My buddy's N/A F22C car with aero and decent tires is already really quick.

That's the goal, i wanted to stick with the Mazda motor but the more and more i got looking at the potential of the F20/F22 there was no comparison. With the new suspension it should be an insane car at around 450hp.

The F20/22C absolutely demolishes the mazda BP in every single way. Not even on the same level. Its going to cost you a pretty penny though.

Absolutely, no question that this is going to be an expensive build but in the long run i feel that this setup will outperform any other setup for the Miata. I fortunately have a fabricator that does amazing work and is very reasonable.

I also had thoughts of getting out of the Miata chassis all together and getting in something else like a S2000, Mustang, or Z06 however the Miata is an absolutely amazing setup. When i had the S4 kit the car could keep pace with our friends prepped c6 Z06 fairly easily at Road America and at the smaller tracks very few cars could compete, and i was only at 250-275hp and **** suspension.

How did you do the fender flaring? unfold the lip then bang the fender out with a hammer and have a body shop smooth it all out?

Body shop did all the work. Unfolded the lip, inside was cut so the metal could be stretched and pulled. Then a new piece was welded back inside and sealed.
During the process:

Good grief! That is one hell of a build, good inspiration. Silly Q, are you guys allowed to run slicks on all tracks?

So I haven't been on here in awhile but thought I would update this. The build has been going alot slower than I planned; however, I am finally making progress.

Some details:
The tubular suspension has been fun to say the least. All the subframe points have been modified and strengthened, then drill for 1/2" bolts. A nut was welded to the front top subframe suspension point to bolt into the subframe rather than having that excessively long factory bolt. Still have som aligning to do on the a-arms but they are looking good.

I finally got my Koni's and just waiting on my top hats and springs till i can install them on the car.

The rearend I decided to sell the torsen and build my own 8.8 swap. I will be running a track-loc with carbon-fiber disks and 3:73's. I didn't want to cheap on the rear and have it break my first time out. Might as well do it right the first time.

The motor cam last week, it's a 2005 AP2 2.2L with only 32K miles, got it for a steal with the trans and everything. Worked all day Saturday on the swap getting it in the car, and am very happy the way it turned out.

And for the best part Garrett sent me two of their amazing new GTX3071's with divided v-band housings. These are artwork.

Updates should be coming more often now that the build is moving along faster. It will be headed away soon for the new cage, turbo setup, and v-mount. So more updates to come soon.

The hp goals to start are 400-450 depending on what the final weight ends up being.

Some pics for the time beeing.

Got a bunch of nice boxes this past week. My AEM order came in, my Competition Clutch and flywheel came, my Summit order came.
I'm just waiting on my axles, my Rywire harness, and Sheepey manifold to come this week.
The plan is to get the car done this Friday to head over and get the intercooler, radiator, and exhaust made. Then i can align and scale the car.
And should be on the dyno in two weeks!!!!!!

Also got the car back on Saturday from getting the cage, was very happy, cage is all tig welded. My hanging Wilwood pedals didn't fit the car so I ended up running and getting some Tilton floor mounts and shorty master cylinders.

Some pictures for you guys.

Baffled pan!

New pedals!

I wasn't paying $100 a piece for brake hats so i had my dad make me them!

My Koni doubles!

And the room that has turned into my parts room
