Here is a quick sketch. The blue bit is the i/c shroud. The top box is the i/c and the box laying back is the radiator. The air comes in from the front thru some c.f ducting and leaves thru the i/c out the top of the hood. And the rest of the air goes thru the radiator.

Yes the cut out is 4" off centre due to the i/c going straight into the throttle body.

Took a shot from above the car standing on the mez floor. It looks a bit incomplete, so i ordered the c.f to do the doors and trunk.
Just pulled a new hardtop out of the mold, still needs washing and trimming. This one will go on the 2001 nb. The next one will be for a friend and then i can make one for this car with the join line running thru the centre. So all the c.f lines run the same over the whole car from front to back.

That looks soooooo fantastic! What is going to fill the gap between the ic and rad?

What else? Carbon fiber!! Did you really have to ask? lol

Looking good! Although the IC not being centered would drive me crazy.

you could shorten that IC piping. turn turbo 90 degrees and blow exhaust out driver side fender. no problem.

Yeah, that intake tract is pretty ****. Y8s are you saying to rock the whole turbo back- like have the compressor over the turbine? Because thats pretty much the only way I can think of to get the piping any shorter.

I think Y8s means to turn the turbo 90deg about a vertical axis. Connect compressor outlet directly to intercooler inlet like the throttle body. Downpipe is a straight pipe thru the fender. Oil/Air separator AKA valve cover is the air filter.

correct.

though even more awesome would be to point the intake up and exhaust down but I understand the bearings don't like that configuration.

Install a low mount manifold, clock the compressor so it comes almost straight up then run it with 1 90degree bend into the IC.

This setup will work, and i need to get the motor ready for the engine dyno. So not fussed on changing things around, just want to get it going.

I went out on the first session of the morning at sandown. On the outlap a guy came off and hit the wall pretty bad and did some damage to his back. So the first flying lap of mine was only to the back straight. So after about half an hour of waiting we got the green light to go again. I went out and on the first flying lap over the hill the car got a bit loose in the rear even tho i wasn't going flat out. I thought nothing of it and it came back, then all of a sudden the rear just went back out again and wasn't going to stop this time. So i had op lock on as it was going off to the infield. Managed to turn the car back facing the right kind of direction and then realised ther was no way of stoping a car on wet grass doing about 160km/h. It jumped over the bitumen driveway that i was hoping would help me slow down. And hit a tyre wall that luckily wasn't an anchored structure. the tyre wall is pretty big and i pushed it about 10m form it's spot. I have full data and video of the incident, and when i see brendan next i will get him to overlay it before i put it up on youtube. Doubt i will ever run fast on a first lap ever again, because it was exactly the same thing that happened to my turbo car. So don't go too fast till you get some heat in your tyres.

Before

After

Got some work done on the racecar

Dude, that sucks, glad your ok - I don't think that'll buff right out... and PLEASE for the love of god, don't do that on the maiden voyage with your carbon creation - or you'll be the laughing stock of MT!

What tires were you running?

Sorry to hear that. Glad you are ok and now you just need to make some duplicate carbon panels and fix the daily.

Yikes... Tough break on the NB. Glad you are okay though. Very nice work on the carbon parts you have made. You might have inspired me to do some carbon work of my own in the future for the parts I don't already have in carbon.

Dang that sucks, sorry to hear about the nb, but at the risk of sounding like a dick... in for the video.

That pic of the carbon hood and intercooler setup just about made my jizz in my pants though
