(disclaimer, I have already sent an email to 949 about the issue, I am not bashing 949 in any way, I have faith he will sort this out, not a huge deal)

Despite previously being told by 949 that if the item is on the website, and you can add it to the cart and purchase, then its available and is in stock, I ordered the "qmax cooling kit" with the crossflow radiator and reroute kit, without receiving any email notification of the radiators unavailability, the remainder of my order shipped minus the radiator. Had I not been curious as to why my order only "partially shipped" I would be none the wiser that the package that is on its way would not contain the radiator. ETA for radiator is July.... Kind of annoying to be told one thing, and another to take place. But I am several hours ahead of the folks in CA so I assume i will hear something back early afternoon.

So, that leaves me with a dilemma, of the other radiator options, whats a solid comparable radiator as I am not waiting until July for something I ordered May. Considered the Griffin radiator that Flyin Miata offers, but theres a significant price gap between the 949 crossflow and the Griffin. 949= $349 and Griffin= $545.

Although I am not building it for the track, I would like to be able to go to the track without worries of my radiator being an issue.

Grab a $100 Ebay radiator for the moment? Then just put the 949 in when you finally get it.

We put one in my friends car that we found used for $40. Works great, though no track days yet. The thermostat is stuck open and the rad keeps it cool enough the guage reads almost cold...

ACT 6puk clutch kit arrived last week, as did my freeze plug and blockoff plate, got that plugged up, and need to adjust the cams for timing and put timing belt back on. Waiting for my invoice from Fab9 to exchange my 6258 for the 7163 (been slackin on that), last week I also ordered a new NA manual steering rack from Mazda which should be here this week, pressure washed the subframe and got it all cleaned up. Engine mounts, oil pan baffle and re route kit should be here today, 949 refunded the money for the radiator, and I think despite all the praise for the ebay radiator, I am going to go with the griffin unit from FM. Also spoke with FM last week and they have several fuel rails in stock, so that solves that. Picking up my flattop manifold today from Psyber, and ordered a Skunk2 TB today, will be port matching the manifold when the TB arrives. Also got a bit of bondo work done on the bay, need one more pass and then some heavy sanding and it will be ready for paint.

Ultimate goal for now is to get the trans mated to the engine, and get them both on the subframe ready to go.

Still need an NB starter, alternator, NB Crank sensor, cam sensor pig tail/ connector.

I have heard/ read both sides of the fence, my logic is I need a new starter anyway, might as well get the NB starter. :shrugs:

If you need a new starter go for it. But there aren't 2 sides. The starters are interchangeable. I'm running an NA starter with a 6 speed.

My multiple sides being that ive heard and read that with the MSM trans you need NB starter, however ive also been told that you do not. Simply relaying that there is mixed information out there

I think it's the flex plate that throws people off. I had to drill/ ream out a hole to fit my NA starter to a 6 speed. Either way, hell with it. Buy a new one. I didn't, and guess what the very first thing that failed after my rebuild was? The F ing starter.

When I got a new flex plate, it accommodates both using a slotted hole iirc

Well, my package from 949 showed up yesterday, had my coolant reroute, oil pan baffle, master/slave cyl, and everything else I ordered with the exception of my motor mounts, which somehow did not make it into the package, nor was there ever any indication from 949 that it would not be coming with everything else, no separate tracking numbers, no email notification of it coming from elsewhere, nothing of that sort. Honestly rather frustrating to have two rather big issues with them in one order. Finally after a week of attempts to exchange my 6258 for the 7163 I think we made some progress and hopefully that will be here by the weekend. I need to drop everything off at the powder coaters this weekend.

Gotta love it

Over the weekend, I acquired my OEM manual steering rack with R-package tie rod ends, and my skunk2 throttle body, got the timing done and belt on. Due to some unnecessary complications and rather poor customer service and being charged twice what I was quoted for the turbo exchange, I will be getting the turbo a week later than I was promised.

However, on the flip side, 949 expadited the shipment of my engine mounts and provided a free shirt for the issue, now that is how you remedy issues.

I will be out of the country this weekend for the Formula One grand prix in Montreal so I likely wont get to make any progress this weekend, however tonight I will be welding in my bung into the oil pan, hopefully I can at least get it bolted up to the motor before the weekend.
