Intake side should be M8x1.25 or M8x1.5, which you should hopefully be able to find at a local ace hardware. You should have mentioned needing some last week though. I could have pulled them from an old head I have and dropped them up when I was up near Annapolis.

I had completely forgotten the head did not have them until I picked it up from the machine shop this last weekend :/ I will stop and snag a few of those OMW home today and see which one fits. I appreciate it!

And 18psi, are yours new or used?

Well, I was able to make a bit of progress today. Got the oil pump, (HUGE thanks to Emillio @949 racing for the quick responses and shipping on this BE oil pump), water pump, tensioners, Garage Star pulleys, timing belt, ATI damper (which was a pain in the a$$ to accomplish), head torqued down with ARP head studs. I need to get my coolant reroute ordered so that I can get it installed before I finish the timing, cams are currently loose and not timed correctly. But all in all it was a good day and I finally got to mock the turbo up. Feels good to finally be doing something legitimately productive with this project.

If you heat the ATI pully to about 225 deg f. For like 15 minutes, then apply moly grease (cv axle grease) the the crank and pully, it literally slides on 3/4 of the way, by hand.

Hi quality hi temp grease won't work. You will score the living **** out of the crank and pully.

Lol, Yes Payam, I know I need the freeze plug, all of that is part of my next purchase.

And Ryan, I considered heating it up, instead just ended up getting a damper installer from the parts store and used some grease on it. Apparently ATI has made a revision to the size to make it easier to get on, I suppose mine didnt make the cut lol

Are you absolutely certain that it went on all the way? I tried it like you the first time. You could not turn the wrenches any tighter on the installer, it was still 1/8th inch away from full install. It will instantly ruin your timing belt if it's not all the way on. Moly grease is a must. It sounds ridiculous, but the other greases can't take the pressure of an interference fit.

Damn! I want that waterpump pully!

To be completely honest, no I am not absolutely sure it went ALL THE WAY in, I am not certain how far "all the way in" actually is. However I do know that we put it in as far as we possibly could and felt comfortable with how far it went based on the waterpump pulley lining up in front. Here are a few pictures. Im open to all suggestions as this is a first for me, and it was a pain in the *** to get it on this far.

Awesome build, looking forward to some final numbers.

Would a 50/50 mix of E85 and 93 be of any benefit as far as helping keep denotation down? Not trying to derail your thread but you are the first I have seen do a 50/50 mix with, what looked like, very high success. Unless I read something wrong and you did a 50/50 water/meth injection on pump gas.

I'll research more into it then. I am running a somewhat aggressive timing map and with my winter tune on the car I am getting a bit nervous as my IATs are starting to climb higher than I would like. It would be more for piece of mind since E85 is easy to get here. I don't have enough injector/fuel pump to really push higher numbers out of the motor yet.

My experience/ success with a 50/50 mix of E85/93 was not with a Miata, it was with a Mazdaspeed 6, which mine was both direct injection as well as port injection. I would essentially just match the 93 with e85, so if I put 6gallons of 93 in, I would then match that with E85. It is doable pending your tuning ability. In order for me to of ran the additional injectors on the port injection setup, I had to use a Split Second additional injector controller, which was basically just for tuning the fuel map for those particular injectors. The down side to that was that I had to adjust the tune anytime i wanted to run a 93 only tank of fuel.

It had its benefits, but that situation is the sole purpose behind me utilizing a flex fuel sensor with the Miata build here, I want it all to be automatically adjusted on the fly based solely on fuel content. If you are attempting to minimize knock, and doing a flex fuel sensor is not an option, meth is a relatively easy solution that remains consistent. Failsafes are key with meth setups though.

Well, I hate to give everyone blue *****, however I just got a job opportunity for a 12 month vacation to Afghanistan, and the pay and professional growth is rather difficult to pass up. If I choose to accept, I will be leaving late Jul- mid Aug which means the project would take a long nap until I return :( Hopefully I can at least get the engine and subframe back into the car for ease of mobility. I will obviously post updates as things progress.
