OK well in my 9 attempts of torquing plate down on clutch **** I have never been able to remove the bitch tool with my pinkie finger. It always slides out with violence.

any chance you've got a bent clutch disk from ramming a transmission into it?

it happened to me once.

I'm coming down there tomorrow to save the day. There is way too much monkeying around going on with this clutch installation. $50 in nickels or 1 case of Dogfish Head 90 minute will be suffice.

Yes, I suppose it is possible. I think I will pull the clutch and flywheel off the crank and just test that the assembly actually will fit onto the transmission input shaft at all.

How much of the new clutch assembly could he have possibly fucked up?

Oh yeah, all of it.

Maybe taking the clutch discs out and checking them for true might be in order.

I am guessing the clutch discs are the wrong ones. Compare them with your existing clutch, and look for flaws in the manufacturing.

I can not believe you have not tried to slip each clutch disc on the input shaft.

If it was not for some pain and suffering, this forum would not be all that great. Thank you for your devotion and dedication to our amusement.

I am seriously pulling for you. I think you will figure it all out soon, and can not wait to see this thing in action.

I finally had some time to work on this today.

I pulled the discs off and tried to slide them on the shaft. And.... they wouldn't go on . I flipped em around and with bit of effort, they squeezed on. After some back and forth motion on the shaft the clearances loosened up. Clutch tool also went into the discs MUCH more easily and didn't have to machine itself on the way in.

So... that explains why the shaft didn't go in when the assembly was on the motor.

I ran out of time but I think this bitch will go on now.

You didn't wreck the splines at all did you? They have to be able to float on the shaft.

+1, you should probably post some photos of the splines so we can tell you to replace them.

8 more man-hours deep into clutch job.

My discs were not chamfered so I pulled em with Sean and we chamfered the ever living **** out of them. **** still wouldn't go on.

Colin is apparently going to come over tomorrow to give it a try before I pull the motor.

Whosoever mounts this tranny on clutch shall be granted the title "LORD OF TRANNYS"
