Sorry. I was running the exintake when I was NA. I wanted to revert back to the stock exhaust cam for turbo app. I understand and think I can actually see the longer duration lobe.just wondering if it was worth sourcing another stock cam.

How many of you are are using an oil filter relocation kit? I ask because I see that one particular unit on the market, uses fittings and hoses that are much smaller than the threaded oil pipe back into the engine. Certainly miata didn't just say " let's just use a 1/2" pipe here". Neck ing down to a 3/8" seems counter intuitive. What do you think?

IIRC Hustler showed there was a significant gain in pressure going from -8 to -10, thus indicating there were measurable losses in the -8. After that, we've all recommended -10 for oil coolers.

Where are you seeing 3/8" lines? That sounds terribad.

The lines leading too and from the filter are -8 I belive, but in reality the inside dia.of the fitting is like .380, especially the 45° fittings. It's the FM kit. I think I can drill and tap everything for -10, but I'm not positive that there is enough room.
Do I even need this thing? Does anyone elseen use this relocation kit?

EDIT: I found my answer, I'm not using this thing.

I need help guys. I'm at a serious low point in my build. long story short, this was supposed to be a "budget" build. A whole bunch of "while I'm in here" scenarios later, I have a forged bottom end, some of the best suspension and the mind numbing list of parts that go along with all of that. The problem is, it still isn't together. This is way more expensive than I ever dreamed it would be..
While waiting on the block to come back from the machine shop, I decided to polish the combustion chambers in the head. Then I found a small crack. then I chased it down about a half an inch. Then gave up chasing, gave up. Rage quit. Its been a long day/winter/year.
So on to another "while I'm in here"... What should I do. I guess I am just burned out at the moment, with dumping money into this project. I need guidance at this low point.

The crack is between the exhaust valve seat and the spark plug hole.

You have to remember its just a car. Not a friend or family. Either pull out the credit card and buy a new head, or set it down take a step back and research your next move. Don't rush or get mad never helps

My buddy had exact same thing in his 99 head. It really depends on the severity of the crack and the confidence of your machinist to fix it properly/permanently.

He had his welded up.

It's been a few hundred miles now, so far so good.

My personal opinion? I'd replace with a freshened up head. No fancy port work or polish or anything. Just freshened up and not janky

Yeah, all I imagine is welding it, valve seats moving around, chunks of weld falling out at full boost. all the good stuff.

you've a regular bp05 head right? my buddy has a completely fresh head that's been ported and chambers cc'd and all that jazz
