Brain is right. From my research on waterpump/timing belts i can tell you this. Get the GMB water pump, and the mitsobishi timing belt. GMB is made in japan and is oem spec, good quality. Mitsobishi actually makes oem timing belts for honda, etc, so they are of good quality. Typically when you buy the kit that comes with GMB and Mitso parts, you also get decent gaskets, main/cam seals along with it.
You can find these kits for like 120 bucks shipped.

I bought a dnj kit from rock auto. It had all felpro stuff in it. I bought my rods from stargalaxyinc on ebay for $225 shipped +40 for upgraded arp 2000 bolts.. He doens't appear to have any listed but im sure you could write any of the ebayers that sell them. They appear to all be the same rods. Eagle, Belfab, M-tuned, ebay stuff....

CRS-5230 is the product code stamped on all of them. My rods were reasonably close in weight and took very little effort to balance. I used Bogus' write up to balance mine. I also ordered a gates kit for my timing belt kit and water pump. Not sure if it's the best but it was one stop shopping from rockauto. I can't comment on the life of the products but it was all packaged very well and appeared to be of high quality. I've never had any problems with any gates products and they are a reputable company waterpump came with gaskets was ~$40. Timing belt was also ~$40.
edit: Just ran out to my motor and looked. apparently gmb makes my gates pump and probably my timing belt kit gmb stamped right on my water pump.

There's not much to screw up until you get to final assembly. Do you have the Factory Service Manual? There's a pdf copy available onsite here somewhere if not.
If you have time to order FM's cam ninja tool, that's very useful. I did my first ever timing belt alone and without that tool, and managed to get it done.

Make sure you dont buy forged pistons so u can save a whopping three hubdred bux that u spent already on your old motor that you sold last week.
Actually tho. Are u gonna run e85 again? If so then seriously why not run a biggie comp piston?

Same, except mine came with Bando belts. I found the Bandos to be substantially more rubbery and stretchy than the Gates MicroV or Goodyear Gatorback belts I was running previously. GMB water pump was solid, but I ended up reusing the factory o-ring on the side inlet tube thing. The GMB one was skinny and dubious in my eyes.
You could always be King Of The Squeaky Belts and run the GatesRacing Blue accessory belts in the cold on the street
Edit: SO glad we could derail this thread so effectively

Whoah that's the most action this thread's seen in days lol
I don't mind the discussion, the more input the merrier.
Brainy I might take you up on that offer. Going to rip open this spare long block and see what she looks like inside before I pull the trigger on any parts though. Now that the holidays are behind us, and hopefully in the next month work isn't as hectic, and I'll be able to dig into this thing in a more timely manner.
Also I'm waiting for a bunch of different turbo goodies to finally ship

I just did y8s' timing belt and had all his packaging leftover.
