Yep, to which I already responded.

Anyways,
So this happened yesterday:

looks great from 10ft away. Up close I hate it.
few major issues:
-I waited too long to remove the masking tape and it rippled a bunch of the edges.
-I sprayed the glossifier on way too soon and way to thick and I think it caused some sort of chemical reaction cause even though it was shiny as glass right after, now that it completely cured it's all spotty and stupid looking.
-The stupid "wide nozzle" from dipyourcar blows and I will never use it again. it spits like crazy and gets clogged fast and just overall terrible results from it. (the opposite of what he says it does)
-Never spray a hard top on the car.
-Never plastidip in the evening in a VERY poorly lit garage after a long day at work.

Anyways, about 3 hours and about $50 in plastidip wasted, cause I'm definitely not happy with it. This was my 1st time ever plastidipping any surface of this size. I've done wheels before, with amazing results, this not so much. Not sure If I want to re-do it or just have the top repainted properly.

I will probably just have it painted now.

I think I paid $150 to have my hard top painted. Granted mine was in perfect condition. The only place you'll find pladtidip is my winter wheels on my daily. Hate the stuff besides that. Especially if you don't get it thick enough in some spots. Good luck removing it.

Well I dipped both sets of wheels on my z with the stuff, as well as the giant intake manifold, and it came out amazing. I was impressed.

This, however, is way WAY more tricky to do correctly.
It's 1000% harder to do a surface like this vs interior trim pieces or wheels or something.

Definitely learned a thing or two doing this, or rather: what not to do next time.

But yeah I think I'll just have my top re-sprayed. It also is in perfect shape. Removing should be fine since I layed on like 6-7 layers of the stuff.

*edit: I think if I had the spray gun kit it would be way better. Doing a surface like this with rattlecans is FAIL.

I typically try to stay away from big surfaces with the cans. The cans are not very consistent and your finger gets fatigued. If you were local I'd let you borrow my dipyourcar spray gun.

I'm at 10+ feet, therfore I like it better than the white. If you take it back off, go for the match IMO; Ti HT on Ti MSM is pretty pretty.

Better than white ht/ti window frame, but if it's only good at 10 ft, I'd peel the plasti off, and have the hardtop painted Ti. And NEVER use plastidip again.

Yeah I think I'll stick to little stuff like badges with wheels being the largest thing I'll ever dip again.....At least with the rattlecans anyway.

On a different note:

I LOVE how the car feels with these wheels and this suspension. Seriously. The way it absorbs the terrible roads around here on my way to work makes me smile. I don't think I'll change wheels or suspension on this car ever again. Perfect for DD

Now you just need a proper turbo setup for the MSM and you will be good. You should totally check out MKTurbo, I heard they might be able to make you one.

I just ruined your 1000 even number prop count, Mr. OCD.

*EDIT* Darn, 1001 is still wonderfully symmetrical.

Now the challenge is to keep it at 1,000 without going over.

On a related note, I'm disappointed that the props leader board does not show the highest and lowest props to posts ratios, for both neg and pos props.

hahaha thanks David.

Lars,
I would love a MK setup. But I'm sticking with the mediocre-tastic MSM stuff unless the turbo dies or something.

Ace hardware and many other stores sell addons for cans where it makes a can like a trigger gun.

Your finger still gets tired with those. Not as quickly, but for something the size of a hardtop, I think it's time to look at spraygun solutions.
