I almost unfriended him.

Did the Z06 replace the 350Z?

If so, kudos.
And if not, kudos anyway.

I think the revenue from all the automotive sales tax you pay is probably keeping California out of debt.

I was gonna say "lol"
but
It's actually really sad, I don't even want to think about how much I've given them over the years.

I have never paid sales tax on a used car from a private party. Pay cash and put gift on the title. The dmv employees don't give a ****. At least not in Florida.

Yeah, nazifornia is quite different than that.

You put gift, they look up the value of the car, and even if it's more than what hte car is worth you're paying tax off that. So it's worse than putting the sale price on there.

Only time they don't tax you is within family. (immediate family).

they say that too here in VA, and even with the proper forms, they'll still make you pay "sales" taxes.

blue state problems.

Knew the Datsun, I mean Nissan wouldn't last long in your hands! not your type of car!

PS. Should rename this to the 18psi's weekly car purchase thread

Paying sales tax on an item on which sales tax has already been paid certainly sounds like it should be illegal.

Mind Blown

MN is the same way with Sales Tax. However, the lady at the DMV was pretty awesome about my Miata and helped me enter the "correct" sale price which also happened to yeild the smallest amount of sales tax.

I'll just quote the parking ticket I have here in my hands:

"you have 60 calendar days from the date the ticket was issued to pay the fine or request a hearing. However, if your payment or hearing request is not received within 30 days, the fine will double."

That's why they call it "use tax", and it's purely coincidental that the rate is the same as the sales tax rate.

Did you make money on the Datsun? It seems you cleaned it up nicely...enough to make a profit?

Yes I did a ton of work on the 350. Lots and lots of cleaning, maint, de-modding, paint touch up, more cleaning, detailing, you name it. (swapping headers is absolutely retarded on that car). The car was darn near mint by the time I was done with it. It was pretty good at many things, but not really great at any. It was also less practical than the z06, which is saying a lot. It also got worse gas mileage than the z06, which is downright hilarious. I dunno, I kinda enjoyed it, was a cool experience, but not a car for me.

Initial impressions on the z06:
-much better suspension than my previous c5
-shifter sucks, is like 10ft long and feels sloppy, but overall 6sp is so much better than the auto that it's not even comparable. like, not even in the same realm.
-it's fast. obviously. torque everywhere. literally off idle.
-it sounds amazing. pretty sure this one has some sort of aftermarket exhaust
-it's also significantly more noisy inside. way less sound deadening, that kinda sucks.
-it gets attention like crazy, but not the same kind as the Z got, this thing is adored more by old farts than kids (typical).
-The HUD is supposed to be awesome, but is actually kinda useless. Don't really care about it much.

I literally have not gotten the chance to wind it out yet. Only been up to 5k rpm before having to slam on the brakes.
It's the polar opposite of a miata. You can be going 65 in the miata and it feels like 80, this thing at 65 feels like 25.

I think I would like a c6 even more, but this definitely is "the corvette" I always imagined. The auto from pre-08 vette's should be outlawed. Seriously. It's that bad.

Maybe use the Z06 as your "control car" for your V8 Turbo Miata swap!

Or since this is you.... Buy another miata and V8 Turbo that. 😉

LOL

The z06 is....dare I say....plenty fast for me as is.

I don't think I'm going to do anything to it besides a ton of maint and a ton of detailing/cleaning.

I might plastidip the wheels black. Because chrome is gay
