Vlad, serious question. Why are cheap ebay fmic's considered to be perfectly acceptable for a Miata but at the same time cheap ebay tmic's are considered to be total junk for scoobs?

It's not just an ebay special.

This is the deezums special. I would never buy another ebay special again, and not because they don't work, but because for only a little more there are so many better ones out there now. Name brand too.

This one is the "deezums special" with the awesome turbulator count and spacing that I have never seen before deezums found it for us. And yeah, I really like it.

As for the subaru question:
1) fmic =/= tmic
You don't need nearly as much efficiency out of an fmic cause it's constantly being blasted with cold air and never heat soaks. Not so much on a subaru tmic.
2) miata =/= subaru. Some of the stuff we run on subaru's someone on a M3 or AMG benz would never run. Just like some of the stuff we do to our miata's make subaru owners cringe. It's all about the car, price, quality, community, etc.

you blow a miata engine you're out 1k
on a subaru that is like 3500+
on a M3 it's like 5000+
on a AMG benz it's like 7000+

etc

I am seriously considering not even installing a full exhaust now. This is perfect for daily driving. It's much louder than stock, yet really deep and really subtle.

Love it.
.
My buddy kept going back to his stock exhaust on his 11' subie (xluben). I am pretty sure he tried every exhaust on the market before his car was taken to the grave. I always thought he was crazy going back to stock exhuast and selling whatever aftermarket catback he was "reviewing". However, his tuning logs kept showing very small losses... well before he went super batsh*t crazy on the power. Are you planning to log a stock vs TBE to see if there is even an issue with flow restrition?

I actually experimented with it on my 08 FXT 20g e85 setup.

TXS stealthback + stock muffler
and then + prodrive 2.5
vs
full 3"

My conclusion was that with full 3" it spooled a bit faster and "held" the power longer, but the peak numbers were surprisingly close.
I choose to run 3" cause I am very concerned with as wide a powerband as possible, and an extra 500-1k rpm worth of torque is a big deal to me.

It looks really good, but you need to get rid of those wheels with a quickness.

my biggest problem is how long the shifter is and how notchy it feels.

Also this is 1000% off topic but just crossed my mind...

How light can you make a C5 and it still be a street car, AC/PS, Stereo? You know deleting all the BS you don't need, lightweight this and that, diff exhaust, wheels, etc. Kinda curious!

Honestly, I don't think you can do too much. The main weight comes from the frame, it's hydroformed steel and gigantic. Everything else is either aluminum, plastic, fiberglass, or carbon fiber.

If you're talking about accessories, I'd say seats for sure, air bags for sure, I guess ac/ps would be about 50-60lb, and I think wheels and suspension (converting to coil-overs) would be a decent chunk. Oh and brakes.

Not much else that I can think of.

It's really not too heavy considering how big it is: I think the z06 comes in at 3160lb
Exhaust is titanium and pretty light stock

I know the Z06 is a cruiser and the Marrad seats are expensive... But they started off as C5 seats that someone asked him to fit into a Miata. You know, just in case you don't like the seats. I have had one in my 01 for several years and it is my mostest favoritest seat ever. Many, many 8+ hours trips in total comfort and the bolsters are just right to hold you in.
