I'm going to agree with G. Motorcraft isn't for track use. Amsoil should stand up to higher temps. Heat shield will happen eventually.

I'm surprised with how the welding turned out. I'm not going to show off my practice pieces.

Yes. But I didn't trust my welding enough to drill that big of a hole. I also didn't have a big enough bit.
Its not a high flow area so I'm not worried.

Isn't it an NPT bung(so therefore tapered threads)? That's the only thing that concerns me about it.

I did think about that. Its correct. The bung had material on either side of the lip.

Just one datapoint: I've been tracking my car with Motorcraft for a few years and it seems to be working well... I switched to the Amsoil and it made my 3rd gear synchro feel like it was gone. Switched back to new motorcraft and all is well again.


And I'll do 5 track days on the same motor oil.

ebay 3/8" NPT Weld bung

$17 + $10 shipping and the outside edge of the stock isn't even finished. And they claim they've sold at least 5. I should start making and selling weld bungs on ebay with the scrap aluminum I have around.

Gesso, the weld bung had a lip in the middle of it. And I made sure it was facing the correct direction.
Its already installed and working.
