Thanks rallas. And I know it doesn't seem like it would take long. But things add up. And I like to try and keep the car simple and easy to convert to track time.

Quick random question. How sketchy would it be to drill and tap an oil pan. Put an NPT to barbed fitting on, and then cap the barbed fitting until the turbo was installed?

Crankcase shouldn't see much pressure or anything right?

Why not just do a 3/8NPT to 10AN fitting with a 10AN cap?

I did this when I went SC'd. Just plugged the turbo drain hose. It was fine, it had been there for years with oil going through it from the turbo, it sitting without oil flow didn't hurt anything.

Because its not my car and he has an FM kit and I don't want to order AN lines and try and make them.

I guess I'll just find a oil resistant cap.

Dude, you welded up your own manifold, making AN lines is trivial compared to that.

That said, when the turbo has been out of my car for, um, "regulatory" reasons I've needed to plug the drain hole. Currently I do it with a -10 AN plug, but in the past (before I went AN) I've had success with leaving the 5/8" drain hose on it, zip tying it out of the way of the stock exhaust, and shoving a bolt in the end to plug it.

I have built AN lines. This is not my project. And not something i want to put the time and money into converting to AN.

If you are asking you probably have easy access to the pan, right? Why not weld an NPT bung onto the pan, then plug that?

Reddit miata is too amusing to turn away from. You aren't doing it right unless you get downvotes.

Because that is way more work than I want to put in. I'm just refreshing the engine for this guy. And he wants to use the FM hose. But is too scared to tap it himself. I have the engine on the stand.

I guess the work is in cleaning the pan so you can weld to it?

Drill, tap, put in the hose barb, put 4 inches of hose on it, shove a bolt in the other end, clamp it all down. Done. When he puts the turbo on he cuts the old hose off and installs a new one.

I think im going to do a passenger side exit exhaust. I like how it looks. Leaves me room for a muffler if I can't stand the straight pipe. Should be easy to fab. And most of all will **** a lot of you off I hope

I think I just need a little bit of straight from the downpipe. Then 90* up. And 90* back to flat, but rotated facing the side of the car. Then drill a hole in the bumper. Add some trim and profit.

Just like @ThePass'

Wow that's a blast from the past. Don't judge my tire choice... actually I still have those in the garage, kind of like a science experiment just to see how hard a tire can get.

I've wanted it since I saw yours. not super obnoxious out the middle, but a nice side pipe. I think it will work well.

Also lets me fab it without a muffler and add one later on.
