Default '96 1.8 T25 Bottom Mount Build

Hey, So i finally dusted off the parts i've been gathering and decided to put the car on stands. I'm boosting my '96 on a Garret GT2554 from an SR20DET. Bought it from a friend for 50 bucks and rebuilt it for good measure. Got an intercooler and manifold for 50 from a friend i got the car off of. I believe he was on the site at one point. At any rate, i've got the manifold and turbo mocked up with new hardware and in the process of getting fittings and lines for oil and water, buying the m-tuned coolant reroute and intercooler piping/couplers, and finding some 550 rx7 injectors. I'm going to run MS for engine management and fab up a custom downpipe. Plan on running 10psi with a HP goal of around 200. Here are some pictures of the build so far.

I love budget builds. Keep posting pics. I did get a kick out of the valve cover paint job. Lost digits FTW.

Credit for the valve cover goes to the previous owner. I like it as far as unique style goes but not exactly my cup of tea. I have more of a clean style. It will be redone in the future along with the driver headlight cover. Painting the hardtop and a-pillars black in the next week or so.

Ok so almost a year later after alot of time away from home, going to school fulltime, and a mini financial crisis. I'm back on my feet and finishing this car.

I recently plumbed the entire intercooler piping, tapped the oil pan, plumbed all oil and water lines, got brand new gaskets from nissan for the t25, new studs for everything, and got the LC-1 wideband coming in the mail.

I just purchased some rx7 460's from a member on this forum and still waiting to get those from them.

My current debauchle is if i should shell out the money for a new MSPNP2 or just buy a used MSPNP GEN1. I am deleting the MAF and plan on running the boost around 12psi.

What would you do? Pics coming soon!

Last I checked there were some MS2s available in the classifieds for <$300.

I would wait for the chance to buy a MS2, they're far superior.

This is what i keep hearing, but I'm on a ms1 and have no complaints. I think either would work fine for your setup. Just make sure you do the hi-res code.

Sure enough, I looked again and they are all gone. Keep looking, I am sure more will come up for sale.

Another note, do you plan on a turbo brace? I have heard that the S4 manifold likes to crack (well lots of the tubular ones do, not just the Begi).

Yeah it will have a brace welded in when i get the downpipe welded up. Probably just going to put in some steel rods between the flange and the piping to relieve the pressure on the manifold from the weight of the turbo.

Same here, but if I didn't have it I wouldn't bother with MSI, unless a KILLER deal turned up and I could do the $90 upgrade to MSII and still stay under $150ish.
