In response to the front bumper comment...

.... stock NB2? With MSM lip or just the lower add-on lip? Something like this:

Garage Vary Front Lip Spoiler for Miata 2001-2005, Not 04-05 MazdaSpeed

:X And then I could get NB2 headlights and run HIDs without trimming my bumper or having to buy a retrofit kit.

I saw HUGE gains going to a VVT head, VICS mani, and S2 Throttle body (from stock MSM head, stock MSM TB, and stock MSM VTCS mani). Like, took 4 less PSI to make the same horsepower type of thing.

Interesting, I didn't realize it was that significant of an increase. I already have the VICS manifold, and supposedly megasquirt should be operating it. I've never really done anything to verify that I have it set up properly. Maybe I should check the voltages at the actuator sometime....

I may just keep it. Maybe that will be the step I need to take to convince myself to keep the car and build it. We shall see. Mobius has me wanting a NB2 front end pretty bad now. It sucks I booped someone in a parking lot in 2013 and replaced the front bumper and a headlight :( At the time I just wanted it fixed though. Wish I'd thought about it at the time.

Dammit.

I love how my car looks but I wants an NB2 front end and no side skirts.

I like the back end of my car now that I have NB2 tail lights, and a lip spoiler.

I hate the front end of my car. and I hate how shitty my headlights light the road at night.

How about keep your Miata and turn it into this?

Does anyone make a crushing exhaust gasket for the 1.8L? My flange is leaking like mad and I can only assume it's warped due to no relief cuts. I already tried copper gasket spray on both sides of the MLS gasket.

Not currently in a position where I can deal with downtime. When I get it resurfaced I'll have to take the time to put relief cuts in and all that jazz too, otherwise it will just warp again.

Try relief cuts and a new gasket. The relief cuts will let it flex a bit, might be enough for it to bend back some and seal. About your only option on a no-downtime repair short of having it resurfaced.

No faith in a graphite gasket being a workable band aid for a while, if I intend to get it re-surfaced at my earliest convenience anyway?

I've never seen one for sale, unless you're going to make one. I wouldn't do it. I'd probably run 2 OEM gaskets before trying that.

I'm unsure whether or not MLS gaskets would deform enough to properly fill those gaps.... Maybe with a TON of copper gasket spray....

This is about the closest thing I've found to what I'm looking for.
01 02 03 04 Miata 1 8L DOHC NA8C OBX Graphite Gasket for Header Down Pipe | eBay

My only fear with those is the ad (ebay, so taken with a grain of salt) says they are designed to sustain "over 400C", while from what I've read exhaust temperatures upwards of 900C are not uncommon. I do not have a probe, but I don't think I need one to be quite certain my exhaust gets over 400C on the track.

I can see an argument for band-aiding it so you can drive to work but IMHO taking a band-aid like this to the track is a stupid idea.

If it's your only car and you need it to drive to work, then why not just rent a car for 3-4 days or however long it takes to get it resurfaced/reliefs cut?

Idk why you don't just ignore it. My ***** been leaking for months. It still makes 14 psi. Hell I did my last track day with a crack in the manifold.

Ignore it till you can fix it.

Definitely not looking for a track fix. I likely won't be doing any track days until this spring. Late spring post-graduation I plan on buying a second car, but I will probably resurface it and put in relief cuts before then.

But it's loud and annoying... but then again so are the window seals I desperately need to replace and don't want to pay Mazda prices far.
