Is there going to be any flex pieces on the wastegate tubes? The two v band locations will probably move at least a tiny bit during welding

It's mild steel, so yeah it's starting to rust. I got mild like my last manifold because I am getting it coated. My dump tubes, downpipe, and exhaust are stainless though.

Quick update, pictures soon as well.

Talked to DSS, they're going to build me Chromoly Axles and bigger shafts, going to run those along with ARP wheel studs. I talked to AWR they're going to build me a Quaife Transmission as well. So hopefully the drivetrain will hold up pretty well. My clutch and carbon fiber mirrors should be in Monday too.

So FM isn't the only place to get Quaife 5speed gears?

Actually I can't find it on FM's site anymore. hmmmm

Tim,

FM has them, they just want too much for them. I think around $5,000 for a complete trans. AWR has the gears for $2,500, and blueprinted install for $800.

I see, that's a big price difference. I prefer shifting 5 times instead of 6 and when considering you don't have to source/buy/ship a 6 speed and hope your downpipe clears, it makes a lot of sense.

I just can't find it on FM's site anymore, nor their little gear ratio's table.

No flex needed between the two wastegate tubes. They heat up at the same rate. A flex is needed when the WG dump tube recirculates to a DP since they expand at different rates. The DP is hot if the engine is running, while the dump is only hot only at WOT. This dump tube will be VTA so it doesn't need a flex at all. It'll be braced at the block to prevent vibrations, that's it.

Things do move a little when welding. You have to take that into consideration. Just like when welding manifold runners. Weld everything except the last joint. You can then predict which way it'll move and make up for it. Just don't weld the merge joint last. Butt welds are more predictable.
