Default Boat Spec - 2.5 NC2 - MT.net circle of life stage 7

I've pondered about a 2.5 NC for years now. Well, Cameron, @vteckiller2000 , got one, then another and another. Then he let me drive his and it was a done-deal after that. It truly is a much better car than the NA/NB. This is an attempt at getting more of a streetcar, whereas "Bloo" was basically my track setup with a different body Bloo is staying around, don't worry.

The build-list:
NC2 GT
2.5 w/ Esslinger stage 2 cams Mazdaspeed valve springs
EcuFlash w/ RomDrop
Exedy OEM replacement clutch, OEM flywheel
GWR 1.8 header, GWR helmzholt mid-pipe, stock muffler(for now)
Feals 441+ "road race" 12kg/7kg w/ shorter front shock mount
Hotchkiss front/rear sway-bars
17x10 +43 Konig Hypergrams
255/40/17 RT660s

Justin Lee put his NC2 GT up for sale and it seemed like the route to go. Arranged all of it and Cameron "influenced me" on all of this These pics are all from Cameron, I haven't even seen the car yet, lol.

Cameron took it home to start the 2.5 swap. It fits in at his place....... Also interesting how different the shades of white are when they are beside each other.

Cameron quickly got to work on the swap.

Flying up to Cameron on Friday and going to drive it back to TN.

More to come soon!

Why the “road race” Feals for a street car?

You’re not gonna try to sneak this into some TT5 events...?

I drove Cameron's car with the Feal RR's at MATG this year and it was perfectly acceptable for a daily driver.

Double digressive valving. It is superior overall for the more aggressive driving Marcus does

I have the exact setup in NC1 form. Can't beat the 2.5 with cams for a fun streetable track toy. Hell I'm already looking for another motor to start a little build with, now that the community found those $90 pistons to bump the compression up to something more NA appropriate.

There's a thread on the other miata forum ("2.5L Budget high comp...") that goes over the details. The OP is running them with some stage 4 esslinger cams and e85 and it's looking like it should make ~220whp or so. Will change the 2.5 world IMO lol.

Cameron works fast, the loop is pretty entertaining

These came the NEXT day I ordered them from Tirerack...... pretty impressive.

So here's a virtual dyno Cameron did...... even if it's off some it's still pretty impressive.

Sick man. I really want to build one too, but I don't need another miata, and I can't bring myself to ditch my NA.

Subd for some pulls!

Brought it home to TN from Cedar Rapids yesterday, long drive but it wasn't too bad in this NC! It's a MUCH better car than the NA/NB, without question.

Washed it today too and it looks pretty good for a 185k body!

EES mine

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. I am actually really sad to be selling it to get another company lease. Doesn't make sense to have a truck and SUV for myself.

Absolute dream to tow with. 30 mpg unladen and 18-19 mpg towing at 75 mph. Airbags stock in back make my weight distributing hitch unnecessary and it is sooooo comfy. Audio system is bomb too, the little under seat subs really know how to party.

These came in! Waiting on the off-set bushings to come in so I can stuff them on the car.

Did a quick little pull. It's been forever since I've tried to do a pull with a cell phone video

It sounds way louder in this video than it actually is. The stock muffler is whisper-quiet, I think the Roadstersport Super Q is guna be the next purchase item.

Went up to the dragon yesterday with the NC, my brother tagged along in Bloo. It was dead up there, as expected. Didn't go too hard as it was my brother's first time driving a miata up there and had le woman with me and it was her first time ever

Got the beef ready!

They're thiccc, 3 c's.......

To fit these, I need more front camber. So I got some lower offset bushings, they go in the bottom of the spindle where the LCA ball-joint connects.

I tried to "flat-rate" this job....... I tried with JUST trying to pop the LCA ball-joint out, but that wasn't happening. Ended up having to disconnect the shock from the LCA, started to disconnect the sway-bar, but didn't have to.

It took approximately this many tools about about 2hrs total on the first corner. The other corner took about 20min start to finish

Shine and chrome!!!!!!!

The sounds is tad deeper, which is neat., more of a grumble while on throttle, and a little more volume than OEM muffler. It's pretty damn quiet to me, but this should be great for my dad, whom this car is supposed to go to.

Good news, the car feels great on the dragon which is one of its main purposes. When the TCS is on it will grab the inside wheel on the higher camber turns, that was super annoying, and could see someone getting in more trouble with that. So TCS needs to stay off while doing any sort of pace. It might act differently with the big wheel/tires, though.

Bad news, the eccentric bolts are seized. So my alignment didn't go quite according to plan. A local buddy does the alignment so I was there while he was trying. They wouldn't break loose, none of them Got lucky on the rear toe to be close enough, camber is -2.5 rear, tie-rods weren't seized so 0 toe up front, but only -2.5 camber in the front. I'm needing at least -3 to fit the big 17x10s and 255s though. I might try to break them loose myself, but want to get the spare eccentric bolts first. Hopefully, maybe, possibly I won't have to cut them off.

I thought that was your car on Doug’s alignment rack. We should go on a drive soon.
