So after installing my BBK's I am experiencing some steering wheel shutter during moderate braking in a straight line. If I'm braking and steering in either direction slightly it doesn't shutter. I am wondering if the beefed up brakes exposing another weak area in my car.. Maybe tie rods are starting to get some play in them, I'm not sure. I'll have to check when I get a chance.

I have tried to bed in the pads a few times now but on the street though and then parking the car few a few hours to let them cool.
No I didn't use a proportioning valve, I still have the factory ABS I remember reading that ABS cars shouldn't use one.

The COP's are great and I made a bracket to mout it on the firewall right behind the valve cover next to the VIN. If you look close enough at the engine bay picture you can just barely see it.

Frank, you also might want to check the steering rack to see if the rack tensioner is putting enough pre-load. I had some play in my other Miata and thought it was a tie-rod, but found that the tensioner needed to be adjusted. The tensioner is that bolt on the rack with the big lock nut.

Had my first ever HPDE1 event this past weekend at NOLA Motorsports Park.
I was running 11psi and unfortunately still running the factory radiator. I was seeing engine temps of 230° in some spots so I had to strt backing off the throttle and run one or two gears higher than normal to get the RPM's and temps down. This was my fastest lap of the day. I would say it was my best but Imade a few mistakes and in some of my other laps I feel that my driving was better but my lap time suffered due to my cooling issues. I'll try to get more videos posted later. I'm doing everything through my iphone. Feel free to critique my driving, that's really what the video is for after all.

So to add a little more information about my setup for this past weekends event. I was running Carbotech 1521 brake pads. My tire pressure was 36psi hot( checked after each session and brought back down to 36psi.) I was also able to sit in a NB w/ Sparco Sprint V's and have decided I will be buying some for myself. I will also be getting either a TSE radiator or a FM crossflow... Haven't decided.

Thanks, my driving instructor talked me into downloading the "Harry's Lap Timer" App Saterday evening and and after using it Sunday, I wish I had downloaded it sooner.
After my third session on Saterday my instructor took me out as a passenger in his GT3 Porche during a HPDE3 session so I could get a little better feel of just how much I could puch the car. He was consistently running 1:57's and 1:58's owith some high perfermance pads and and street tires.(I can't remember the brand's)
After the ride-a-long I really started to step it up and push the car harder. In my forth session on Saterday I recieved point by's from every car in front of me. It was definately a big improvement from my first session where I was giving point by's to the same cars behind me.
I'm definately hooked and can't wait to get more seat time after I make some improvements to the cooling system and get a spare set of brake rotors for my track pads.

Get your wheels opti-coated for +/- $100, brake dust will simply spray off with just a tiny amount of soap.
It is a permanent sealant/wax and you never have to wax them again. I do it to all my wheels. Went almost the entire winter without wiping my winter set with a towel and they are as shiny as ever.

I was running a Koyo 37mm + stock routing and I had issues at anything over 90°F ambient. There is nothing worse than cutting short a session due to overheating so I feel you on that one. I hit the problem with the biggest hammer I could find (TSE Rad + M-Tuned Reroute) so we'll see how it turns out.
You are running the BEGI reroute, correct? Do you know what head gasket is on your engine?
Getting a ride with an instructor is awesome. I had the same exact experience and the resulting point-bys are a glorious ego boost Glad you are having fun out there.
