You can. Contact Lightwerkz. They did everything for me. 300 dollars labor for each projector. They were very thorough with answering my questions, providing pictures, and explaining their process. Time will tell if I made a good choice.

If you do it yourself, parts alone are just under 1000 (four projectors and two shrouds) plus the correct sealant, and other materials.

This is my entry for the Road and Track test drive and interview (by Sam Smith, R&T online)

Hello,

My name is Marcello and I own a Crystal Blue Metallic 2001 Miata LS. It has a factory hardtop, and stock engine, except for a european flat-top intake manifold. Full, stock exhaust.

I love to carve roads and go fast, reliably, and safely, but to do so without being obnoxiously loud. I am also very picky with road feel, and parts working smoothly.

I basically throw money and parts at the car until I get the best quality.

The following parts/mods will be installed/completed in time for Miatas at MRLS...

-Lightwerkz quad projector bixenon retrofit (D2S in low beam housing, TL-R in high beam housing, 55w ballasts, osram nightbreaker bulbs)

-V8 Roadster Pro BBK with tandem master cylinder and brace (11.75" curved vane two- piece AP Racing rotors and 4 pot radial mount Dynapro calipers front, custom Coleman two piece rotors rear)

-Track Dog Racing Intercooled c30-94 Rotrex kit

-Custom Megasquirt 3 ecu with real time flex fuel and barometric correction

-AEM AFR gauge mounted where the dummy oil pressure gauge was

-XIDA 800/500 Coilovers with Billet Coaxial top mounts and helper springs

-949 Racing sprung 4 puck clutch and forged steel flywheel

-JO Motorsports 6 speed transmission (cryo treated gears, Roush hardened shift forks, coated synchros)

-949 Racing O.S. Giken differential

-SADfab delrin control arm bushing kit with grease fittings

-AWR Heavy Duty Front Swaybar mounts

-949 Racing motor mounts, steering rack bushings, and differential mount bushings

-Hard Dog H2 Roll Bar Double Diagonal (works with glass soft top or hard top

-205 RE-71R tires

-15x8 6UL rims

- Aligned at 4.1" front pinch welds-3.5*/-2.8* and + .125" total rear toe.

-and the best mods you can have... tire pyrometer, notebook, tire pressure gauge, and air compressor in a bag in the trunk.

I am probably forgetting a few things, but that's most of the main current mods.

Future mods- I'm almost done. REALLY! Just a TSE built motor, and Carbon Miata full carbon oem hood, hard top, complete doors with door cards, and trunk. And a paint job, in another unpopular homosexual color. (to be determined)

Thank you for the chance,
Marcello

They (Sam and Keith) pick 3 cars from each run group of Miatas at MRLS.

Enter your car!!!

finally got around to the catch cans.... a little rough, but it should function properly. Vented one goes on the exhaust side (between intake inlet and valve cover) the other one goes on the intake side.(between valve cover and intake manifold, with a check valve between the catch can and intake manifold. the necessity of an additional check valve in this system, since the PCV is a check valve, is debatable. I'm putting an additional one, just because.)

Elbows, filter thingy and breather is from Jegs, brackets, springs (inserted in the bottom of the cans) and cheap hardware from HD racing. Husky air/oil separators courtesy of 18psi racing.

Special thanks to 18psi, Deezums, and aidendj.

Prepped the headlights for a Ultra LightGard - clearmask.com installation. Optically clear, super ******* stinky.... but supposedly should protect my headlights when I'm going 500mph.

I sort of lucked out. I bought them from an ebay seller who kept sending 600 dollar replacement miata headlights in a big empty box, so they were all arriving broken. Lightwerkz repaired the best two for me, and the ebay seller gave me a full refund. Free new headlights. If you don't count the retrofit.

Kept sending? Does this mean you have multiple sets?

Lightwerks has multiple sets of broken miata lights. the clear front parts are fine, though, just the plastic tabs or adjustment screws are broken. Do you want to contact them?

Or should I? If you want me to, send me your shipping address, and I can have them ship what you want.

Yikes! I wasn't going to add it up! Yeah... I have a problem.

Yet again, I have spent enough to buy an almost new Z06 in cash, outright.

The tools, however, are good to have. I won't be getting rid of them.

Can't find the post, cause our threads are getting too long, we'll be as bad as Aidan next thing you know.
But I remember you making the most valid Zen statement, something like "I spend 10's of thousands on my Miata, because it makes me happy."
While I haven't even spent 10 G's because I am a broke, house poor boy. I basically spend every free penny/second I have on my Miata because it makes me happy. Your statement just rings with "Truth" around here.
I do want a Z06 though.

It's pointless to say "I could buy a z06 with the money I spent" when
1) you bought tools, which the z06 doesn't come with
2) you bought a trailer and other stuff, which z06 doesn't come with
3) you bought a bunch of stuff twice or thrice, cause you either bought wrong parts or they had problems, which the z06 wouldn't really apply to
4) you're learning how to wrench and make your car fast and track ready, learning in the same manner on a z06 would amount to close to $100k. making stupid mistakes with a 40-50k car would cost a LOT of money.
5) who cares.........do what makes you happy don't make tallies, they will make you sad

PS: consulting with me on some of these decisions woulda saved you a ton of money. cause I <3 u and would always give you solid advice
