I agree. I'd be looking at the twin disk from 949 with the MAN clutch plates. Its a tough clutch to launch, and your pedal stroke will get a bunch shorter (IE it wont come up far enough to touch the clutch switch so if you use that for NLS or launch control you'll have to come up with something).

+2. In fact, there is a used twin disk in the classifieds right now.

But I’m already at ~350whp so lvl2 probably don’t get me far . I know that twin disk is the best choice but currently I don’t have money for it. I’m looking more like a cheap ACT extreme etc…?

I would buy the twin disk if I was in your situation.

I had a spec clutch once... it was aweful.

It was supposedly the Stage 2+, and it wore away the stage 3 side prematurely and seized up on my flywheel, while the stage 2 side was almost new. There was nothing wrong with the clutch operation

So I have been following ur build thread for a while, love the work/car. I'm on the fence about doing the Honda IM but after looking at how many have cracked at the welds IDK. I have a buddy who is a master aluminum welder so I have some hopes lol.

I was looking at the TB you used and was wondering if it is this one? Skunk2 Alpha Series Throttle Body - XTRPerformance

Also really interested on what you did with the AIC and TPS. I saw the pic on pg 5 for the AIC but it has me stumped lol. I didn't see anything about the TPS, did the stock TPS just plug to the TB?

(pardon the noobness lol)

It helps to have a patient welder buddy who is willing to fix that every week . My Honda IM has been working now but I expect it to crack someday again. “A pessimist is never disappointed” or something like that

You can put whatever Honda B18 TB you like as you have to buy Honda TPS for it anyway. My TB looks lot like that Skunk2 one but I guess they all do

AIC is a different matter. You can ether leave it out or drink too much alcohol and do what I did:

well..****…

So I don’t have much choice do I? Either get the ACT XT 6-puck, hate my life when driving to work or I can try selling sexual favors to strangers and raise money for the twin disc. There’s no third option anywhere? I have searched believe me (searched both 400ft lbs clutches and how much 30y old male can earn on the brothel streets)

Well Leafy did mention that carbon/carbon one he's using in another thread, something like $750-800, but if you're spending that kinda money you might as well get the twin.

I'm not sure the Speed Sport clutch I have will handle that power off the shelf. Its only rated to 300ftlbs, Brain Goodwin claims its holding around 350 for him. The pressure plate is stock stiffness, they could certainly make you one with a stiffer plate that will hold more. But the rated capacity being below what he's already making is why I didn't recommend it in this thread.

Wait how much are you planning to run Muto?

pdexta and one other guy made ~300 ft-lbs @19psi with a GT2871 with cast logs. Do you really expect to make 50 ft-lbs more with a ramhorn?

I wouldnt be surprised. He was making his FM stage 1 slip with 17.

And if my math is right, that turbo would be able to do 19psi at 4k rpm, and then taper up t 24psi by 5k and hold that to redline on a miata engine. If you could get the hot side to flow enough.

Yeah that's not out of the question: torque output difference between tubular and log is pretty significant.

I think this one is pending but you can message him about it and see. Clutch you need with a discount.
