Usually, this. ^

The rule of thumb is to keep at least a millimeter of flat, untouched edging to keep a seal. There are different ways to "knife edge", by removing material either on one side at a 20 - 30 degrees, or both sides at an even 45 degree, or even "rounding" the square edging.

Edit: and by looking at yours, dont touch the front edge, its the sealing point.

M3 tuners do this, from what ive seen thats why I asked. Its not for power, but throttle response.

Not to thread jack, but what throttle body is that off of? I read somewhere that people were simply doing this by using simple flap wheels of the same diameter.

It could have been maybe few inches higher but if it works…. maybe it isn’t so big deal.

BP's have the injector bosses integrated into the head.

I machine 5mm off so now it sits an angle

If I bent that ABS pipe out of the way there’s about 1-2cm room for the IM. I think its enough..

Maybe I leave it as it is. If I want to raise it any more I have to buy another stock Miata manifold and cut the flange off it…

Not much really. Only section I cut off was below throttle opening so that it won't hit the frame:

You want to shield the dipstick from the turbine housing, exhaust manifold, and downpipe. Ask me about having to remove my engine because of tiny bits of melted dipstick in my oil.
