Heh, we already discussed this at the track. I'm not intersted in Kirkeys or Ultrashields. I need something more street-able.

Yes, its a compromise. I'm sure you all will endlessly dump on me about it.

I'm not suggesting aluminum seats. But I'm suggesting more than lotus seats.

Yes, but I like and fit in Lotus seats. They also don't look like ridiculous racecar seats.

The only other thing I sat in that got close was Ed's passenger seat, and I believe that was a Sparco Sprint? Sparco USA

Before that, it was the Recaro that Ian and I discussed earlier in the thread, but they are NLA. I was hoping to pick up a used one but I think I missed the boat on that.

I need to poke Ed and see if he has the actual PN for the seat he ordered. Gesso has a Sparco Sprint in the drivers side of the Exowhat and my old Sparco Sprint 5 on the passenger side. For whatever reason I fit better in Eds Sprint than I do in Gessos Sprint and I'd like to know why.

Funny, Ed hates his passenger seat and was trying to unload it at MRLS. You shoulda bought it

I thought he hated the driver seat? I also thought most of his hate seemed to be focused on the mounting solution.

Does this work anymore? @turbofan

I remember there was some discussion of Gesso trying to trade passenger seats with him, but I didn't realize it was actively for sale. I probably would have bought it

He hated the mounting on the drivers seat. But loves the seat.

Hates the passenger seat but loves the mounting.

Ha! Yes it works.

And Aidan overstates my enthusiasm for selling my seat. While it's true that I hate it, I also don't hardly ever sit in it because it's on the passenger side. It currently looks good, fits perfectly, has sliders that work perfectly, and it is installed and fully operational. If I sold it, I'd have to start over with mounting and stuff and I really am not excited about doing that, especially considering how affordable they are new so I can't imagine mine would be worth a very large sum.

I very much do not hate my driver seat. It was a bastard to get it fitted, and I hate how nothing fit like it was supposed to, but now that it is installed I love it.

Bitchin' thanks man

I know you are at work right now and probably can't do it, but could you please PM me links or part numbers at some point? I would be very interested in whatever it was that you did in your car. You probably have the only other NB I've ever sat in that has halfway usable or functional for me.

All I found in your build thread was "This **** sucked but its done, time to move on"

FWIW (and that might not be much) I have a Sparco Sprint V as my driver's seat and I love it! Snug enough to keep me securely in place, but comfortable enough to go from ATL to DTW and back w/o being crippled.

I have homemade side-mounts that attach to the slider so I have fore/aft goodness. It was a b**ch to get the locating holes tight, but it's perfect for me.

The Sprint V is the old one, right? That's the one that I had originally that ended up on the pax side of Gesso's car. It was a nice enough seat but it was too narrow for my rib cage. We expanded it a bit with a high lift 4wd jack because its a steel tube frame seat, but its never been exceptionally comfortable. I was surprised that I dropped into Ed's pax side Sprint with no issue after my previous experience with the Sprint V.

Now if I can get a Sprint on a slider on my drivers side WITH a sub strap, I think I'll be in business. If I have to remove the humps I can deal, but slider is a requirement. Wife has tiny little T-Rex arms.

Pillows and a foam block is how hailey drives my car. And our height difference is quite significant.

Yeah, the "V" is the old one - and it is narrow, but I'm a little guy.

Yeah, Jen and I are the same way. I'm not the tallest guy ever but she's still shorter than me. I would not be surprised if a slider didn't have enough adjustment to handle both of us. I may have to foam block her in anyway. Its her woman hips fitting in the seat that worries me the most. I kept pestering her to come out to MRLS so she could sit in things, but she was not feeling well Sat and had plans on Sun.

It's my barrel torso that always gets me in trouble. I drove 4.5 hours in the car up to Thunderhill before we found a jack large enough to expand the seat. I was not a fan

I know you hate ultrashields, but hailey likes them way more than any other seat (including Ed's) because they don't squeeze her hips.

I'm like a broken record.

Goddammit! NO Ultrashields! Car still needs to at least look like a street car at a glance. If I was planning on gutting the interior out of it I'd consider something like that, but for now its a non starter.

I'd pay extra for Sparco/Momo/Recaro/Cobras without logo embroidery, because either I'll be dying it or ripping it out thread by thread. This is one of the reasons for my strong attraction to the Elise seats.

I love my Sparco Sprints! Great dual duty seat in my opinion. I've done a few 8-9 hour trips with them.

EDIT : I understand what you mean about the embroidery though. I'd dye mine but I'm afraid it'll bleed through to my clothes

I want to punch in the gut/***** with all my strength the people that tell me that ultrashields/kirkeys/other crazy alum buckets are "comfy" and "totally streetable".
