What would you even "look over"? I'm just curious.
Idle settings don't have a "norm"
VE map doesn't have a "norm"
Pretty much nothing has a norm aside from the spark table, and all need to be tune with logs/feedback, otherwise you're just playing the "random number generator" game

I have rock solid idle on a hotside SC setup with a ton of throttled volume, and I did it with a 10lb flywheel, and lower comp pistons/same intake he has/10lb flywheel. So I'm fairly certain if his setup won't idle perfect, there's a problem. It may be the tune, or it may be a hardware problem. Since he's said before he's not that great at tuning, I offered to look at it. I'll go through all the settings and make sure there's no obvious setting errors, and see how he has the tune itself done. I've done this more than once.

I will not argue or be attacked for offering to help though, just offered to look at it.

Oh grow the hell up.
You don't have a clue if there are any errors because there is no standard. So unless he disabled his IACV or somethig insane like that, no one could possibly know what's wrong without at the very least logs. You can't possibly help without logs. Period.

You're seriously going to insult me for offering to help him?

What part of saying it's impossible to help without logs is insulting you?

F off Ed, I'm asking him a genuine question.

Those parts are insulting. Be civil. I offered to help the him since he said he's having trouble at idle and you posted that. I'm not telling people to f off, or grow up, or anything insulting.

To the OP, if he doesn't want help that's cool. I've helped him with his tune in this thread, and it's usually a slow process posting screenshots of each individual thing. So I said just email me the tune and I'll go through it. I hate having a poor idle, so I kinda feel his pain I guess, a solid idle is something I just have to have.

This part isn't insulting, but it's wrong. If I sent you my tune now that I'm running with E85, no logs, you'd laugh because you'd see the cranking, accel enrich, and other fuel settings are unchanged/untunned. And the timing map is stupid for E85. And how knows what else is wrong. Some of them are zero'd out....

Don't need a datalog to see things that are missing or wrong.

Thanks for the heads up. I assume this is the thread in question? https://www.miataturbo.net/megasquir...it-miss-84668/

Because that whole thread is pure sex. Thanks for forcing me to go search.

Ordered the Innovate MTX-D oil temp/pressure gauge. It looks decent but it turns out I can't chain the serial inputs into the MS, so its not as awesome as it could have been, plus I've never been a huge fan of the LED ring. Probably returning to Amazon on Monday.

I'm considering AccuTech SMi oil pressure, oil temp and water temp gauges. Mounting will be an issue. The AccuTech are like 2-5/8” (66.675mm) so that kinda puts the "**** you" to my fancy gauge mount that is set up for 3x 52mm gauges. It looks like most people are mounting them in the vents but I don't want to loose my vent holes. A standard single DIN mount is 180x50 and it's the 180mm that's killing me because 67*3≠180 :( Dammit AccuTech, why you no 52mm? I also can't find dimensions for these things anywhere. Bleh.

Yay! Dimensions posted in the high quality gauge thread

So I spent a pile of time this weekend trying to get my idle 'gooder' by following the guide that richyvrlimited posted in this thread starting on post 16. One of my pet peeves about the MS has always been the continuity of the interface. For example, you open the "Closed-loop idle settings" from the dropdown menu and it becomes "Closed-loop Idle Control" when the window is open. URGH! This makes it amazingly frustrating to find things based on other peoples screen shots and such. Anyway, that guide has been no end of frustrating because none of my menus match the descriptions of the functions and I can almost swear there are things that don't react properly to the given input. I spent more time trying to translate the settings than I actually did screwing with my idle. Now that is frustrating.

Then I realized I'm on FW 1.2.4 from some time in mid 2013

So tonight I'm going to update my firmware. My initial impulse is to download and update to 1.3.4 because I'm pretty sure that's what the guide was written for, but Rev says 1.4 should be fine. I'm unsure what to do here. Other than "newer is gooder" is there any reason I shouldn't go with 1.4?

Yeah the Accutechs are pissing me off. I have a set of VDO Vision gauges here that i need to decide soon if i'm going to send back to Summit or not because i really wanted the Accutechs, but doing the Accutechs will require some other compromises i'm not entirely sure i want to do at the moment.

I guess i'll just remove the stereo and do the Accutechs.

No stereo here so I've got more room to work with, I'm just in that racecar vs streetcar functional gauge mount location vortex. I feel like the stereo hole is almost too low as it is, but I'm not willing to butcher my dash.

If you end up having something made for mounting, shoot me a PM so I can get in on it.

My problem is that i want a stereo, so i installed a nice Kenwood Excelon headunit and spliced into the factory Blose setup. However.... my car is REALLY loud and i can't hear it over the car anyways, so i'll just remove it and maybe try again later with just an aux input or bluetooth receiver only, which i don't need a full DIN for, which lets me take up two DINs for the Accutechs.

I'll keep you poasted on mounting solution.

stereo location is indeed too low for track use. My AFR gauge is located there and there is no way i can use it while on track. Another thing you need to consider with the SMI gauges is that there is no dimmer. I put painters tape over them to my drive to/from the track when its dark outside. If it were me and I wanted to do a street/track hybrid setup i'd consider making my own gauge housing/hood out of aluminum and mount it near the oem gauge cluster.

No arguments here, I agree with all of the above and willing to deal with the drawbacks.

Why the HELL is it so hard to find decent gauges?

I'm not seeing it... like replace the plastic hood?

I've never done this before. Do you just... install it? /boggle. I will do it, just as soon as I get back from defcon. So like after the 11th.

FWIW; I got a gauge pod from Summit to mount gauges (old pic from when the dash was out);

It looks like it would be in the way from the pic, but when it's installed it's just enough in the line of sight to be useful but not intrusive. YMMV
