I based my settings on Soviet's post. I can post mine up when I get access to the laptop at home.

I'm using the same EFR low boost actuator and I get creep up to 14psi in the high RPMs too.

That's certainly what we have all been told, but it is what it is. It'll be interesting to see what the TSE kit does, seeing how its supposed to be compliant with the stock block.

FrankB is running the medium actuator and manages 10psi though according to his datalog on the prior page.

Not sure what else is at play?

Well you live in Aus, so the turbo spins backwards, that might effect it.

Otherwise maybe exhaust back pressure?

timk: That's a very good point. I noticed that earlier and I've been poking around in his thread and can't find anything that much different. Our manifolds are not entirely dissimilar, but IDK if that can all be chalked up to his "med" vs my "low" actuator?

Or the fact that you seem to have some weird actuator issues. Have you tried filming it while doing a pull?

I'd like to get a good datalog to show you but it is raining here, trying anything full throttle in this thing is sketchy at best, throwing rain in the mix will result in certain death.

Yeah, I'm suspecting it might be a good idea for me to try the medium boost actuator...

Alright, so I followed the settings in that thread, hooked it up the valve (didn't wire it in, G did that and I think he said he tested it too). EBC doesn't work. Tried Closed Loop, Tried Open loop. Nothing.
I disconnected the line to the gate just to test, and yes it absolutely will build boost fast (let off at 10 at around 3000 or so).

Any ideas? Checked IO pins in TS and it shows "boost" as the pin for EBC, and that's what I have boost control set to as well.
I tried "normal" and I tried "inverted". Nothing
I backed off the pre-load so it wouldn't creep so bad up top, and plan to make up the difference with EBC.

Open loop. Set DC to 50% everywhere. Is solenoid clicking?

Vlad, give up on reducing the preload to limit the creep. when I had the 7psi can with literally zero preload it still creeped to 12 where peak power happens. Everything on this turbo works so well that even the monster iwg cant vent enough to maintain low pressures under certain conditions.

Can you hear the ebc clicking?

I wired it, so its probably a wiring issue

It's pulling 12v from the radio circuit (I don't have a radio) and runs into pin 20 on the MS3 DB37. It's the one add-on piggyback fuse in the fuse box.

FWIW, I had some really weird behaviour from my MS3 when I powered the solenoid with the radio circuit. I'm a software guy so I don't totally understand it, but IIRC the problem was that the radio was hot in accessory, so if the key was in ACC it would back-feed power to the MS3 through the solenoid. This made it do all sort of weird things.

It's not the cause for the boost creep (EWGs are awesome, everyone should get one), but I'd recommend powering the solenoid with something that's only hot in run.

switched power source to AC fuse as well as did the 50% duty cycle test does not work either time

Another thing that's happened like 3 or 4 times now is:

the car will all of a suddent start running really weird, idling at 1k rpm, and the AFR's would just go PIG rich (on both the gauge and the TS) and just be all weird.

You go and either SAVE whatever map you're tuning, or LOAD the previous map, or even RELOAD the same map you're on, cycle the ignitiion, and voila - back to running good.

methinks there's either an electrical, or ground, gremlin. or possibly even something happening inside the MS3 that causes this.

Anyway, yesterday it rained again, so didn't get much tuning done other than trying to get the EBC working. Today I'll keep poking at it and see what I can find.

Cold/hot starts are better than before, but still not to my liking. arghhh

I'm not familiar with this, that's super bizarre. Just like out of nowhere or on a start? I had this happen once or twice a couple months back on restart, but never saw it again. Someone just recently had posted something similar to this (maybe in Aidan's thread?) about the baro sampling being goofy on start, but it sounds like this isn't on start? /boggle

Where in the world are you getting all this rain? That's like twice, we haven't seen any in months :(

Well, that probably means they are 10,000x than they were? But I know how much of a stickler you are.
