This topic has been beat to death, but the short version is: EV-1 = sucks (rx-7, OEM miata). EV-6 (8, 7, I don't remember, whatever they are) = OK. The Deatschwerks injectors are of this type. EV-14 (FIC, Injector Dynamics) = teh best.
RX-8 are good ones to get if you want to keep the costs down. After that you have to pay to play. However most people here will tell you to save money and buy some ID-1000s now rather than buying older model ones and selling them once you regret it.

I've been contemplating looking for a 1.8.... How much do they normally go for? JDMEnginedepot has them for 1.8 complete motor and trans... seems pretty reasonable, no?

So looks like I am acquiring a 95' 1.8 w/ Torsen rear this week.... for FREE!!! Pretty excited about it It will be coming from a fellow enthusiast who happens to be looking for someone who has access to a garage with lift and some know-how to swap an engine into his other Miata in exchange for his 95' that is in Ok/rough condition. The "rough" being the body condition. I am really only interested in the diff/1.8 lol.. So I offered to help him out and take the 95! I am still in debate on whether I will swap the 1.8 right in, or re-build it with 8.6:1 pistons and forged rods.... something else to think about/ add to my "to-do" list lol

Ok so that free parts car fell through... time to come back down the planet earth and get back on track
I know I said my rule was no more parts buying until after the new year... but **** I made it close enough lol...
12/27 - Pulled the trigger on an ISIS T25/T28. Went through my fellow Wrxforums.com vendor and got a sweet deal on one shipped to my door! I actually ordered a Godspeed first (Same one dustinb used) And was sent a refund a few hours later saying that there was a problem with those turbo's and they had to send them all back... sounds like a bunch of BS but oh well.... that turbo is not an option now so I had to use my back up plan.
ISIS T25/T28 Replacement Turbo - Nissan SR20DET Import Image Racing
Also ordered my timing belt kit from Rosenthal. I'll be tackleing that job in a couple weeks. Yikes!! It'll be my first time for that.
Today I started my 4 wheel brake job. Started on the rear and ran into a frozen caliper on the right rear.... won't be in until Monday so it will be in the garage until then :(
Ok so my next dilemma is what to buy next... I have $900 x-mas monies left over... should I continue to save and buy my complete ARTech set-up in March.... Or buy stuff like intercooler, plumbing kit, and some other items?!??! hmmmm decisions decisions lol

Damnit... I'm not sure if I want to use this turbo... After reading through Curley's thread I found out that the downpipe flange on the ISIS is not exactly the same as a Garrett flange. First, I have to verify that my turbo has the "weird" flange. If it does, I'm going to sell it on silvia.net (The Isis turbo's are very popular with 240sx guys) And I will be picking up a Churbo from BEGI. I know that they only use garrett flanges (I should have just spent the extra bucks and got one of these to start with)

I could send the Isis back but I'm going to wait and see what happens ... I'm starting to think this has a garrett flange, based on what others are saying in the interwebs about the Isis. ARTech is sending me a template for a garrett flange in the mail so I am going to see if it matches up... Hope it does!

I asked over on Zilvia and Enjuku confirmed it is the same flange as a Garrett... Whew!

Considering it's a bolt in replacement sold for sr20det motors, it "should" use the oem garret flange. I always assumed it did.
I'm following this build, I'm curious how this turbo spools/performs for you, as I was considering one down the road after I get tired of my tiny sr20t25. You should keep that gopro, or get a new one if you sell it - i want vids .

So I currently do not own a laptop. I have a Transformer Prime that I use as a laptop, but I have thinking about E-Baying it while it's still worth about $350-450ish. I think I want to get a netbook or maybe a cheaper laptop. Just want it for web browsing at home and eventually use it as my tuning laptop as well.
I wish I could use this thing for tuning cause honestly, I love it...

You dont want to tune on a netbook. I've learned that lesson. My next laptop is going to be an ultra book because you NEED the screen real estate. I know that on the normal netbook screen size, you have to force it into the distorted 4:3 resolution in order to be able to click all the buttons on Haltech software, you run into some problems with HP tuners, it makes it a pain to use rom raider. I haven't really tried using tuner studio or aem tuner on it in a while so I cant remember if it causes any issues with those.
