Let's be real, I can get much more than 190 torque... It doesnt make your point sound very credible to exaggerate.

I'm exploring my options, well see what I find.

How much more? Serious question.

The last dyno I saw was a rotrex with...well, everything. Built motor, one of the nicest worked heads, big exhaust, big intake mani...literally, everything; barely scraped 200wtrq @ redline

TrackDayHookey, c30-94 on pump gas. Same as Viper stated, everything done to the car, custom IM etc...

Not spectacular but makes my point that there is potential.

When you said potential in post #122 I immediately googled "miata rotrex 300whp", saw that dyno plot, and started to illustrate my point to you, then got sidetracked and didn't.

I open this now, and you posted the EXACT dyno, and Scott then did what he does in every supercharger thread: overlay it with a mid level turbo setup plot.

Scott, I think our periods are synching bro

I'm constantly on my period.

a more fair comparison would be soviet's, since his motor has a little work done.

I guess if you were building a race car that plot would be acceptable, but man my 1.6L makes more torque than that for the majority of the powerband.

While we are all bashing the rotrex and preaching area under the curve, Is there an actual build thread to go along with "Paul's Magical Turbo Dyno Plot?" I've extrapolated some of the data purely from the conversations I've seen, but it would be nice to see an actual parts list... I know someone else has a current thread about a smallish turbo build that's pretty street sexy, shuiend maybe?

he had a build diary on his personal website, but once he sold the car, he sold that as well.

Guess that answers that question

From what I've gathered, I'm pretty sure Paul was running a 2560, but what about manifold and DP? I've learned that his dyno plot is almost exactly what I want.

like I said: a 99 motor with a 2560. He had an absurdflow manifold, BEGi IM, and 70mm TB. I think he was still even on MS1. that's it. easily repeatable. There was nothing revolutionary about the setup, but for the fact he used a smartly engineered exhaust manifold.

I don't see the potential. Even with my "supra" setup that I'm building I plan on having a much better powerband than that. 240wtrq is the basis for most stock blocks on a FM/Begi kit. I don't understand how/why wanting all your power at redline is desirable. I can understand if you actually made a decent chunk beforehand, but the rotrex seems to go nearly vertical and the numbers are on the low side.

I mean, this is coming from me, and I'm the one of the most hardcore big turbo/late powerband/to the right side of the graph/supra roll people on this board.

If that dyno had 100 more whp/wtrq then I wouldn't bag on it so much.

Paul's "machine" had an early ABSURDflow manifold/downpipe combo.

considering it says "AbsurdFlow•‘°Ÿœ tubular manifold" and i said "smartly engineered"

...that's a pretty good hint that it wasnt a basic log manifold.

That's exactly what told me that. I know both Tim and Abe have several designs floating around, thus the "I'll keep looking."

If the graph that Braineack posted doesn't convince you that turbo is the way to go, I don't think anything will.

All of that shaded area under the curve, that's humongous.

You're an EFR6258 away from destroying that curve too...

Good luck whatever you do

You asked them to convince you to go turbo.
