Default Snail's 94 Miata troubleshooting/build thread

Hi everyone,
A little background, I picked up this car roughly 1 year ago. It is a 1994 1.8L Miata with a homemade turbo kit. MSPNP. RX7 injectors (i think)

The previous owner had lifter noise and proceed to change the lifter, waterpump, belts, etc... Since then it hasn't ran correctly. I finally think I have the motivation and time to tackle this project and figure this out. The tune in MSPNP is gone, erased, deleted so that is not helping.

My game plan is as follows and will start this weekend.

-re-install stock injectors & ECU
-get the car to run with that combo first.

I have owned a Turbo Diesel Cummins that had close to 600hp, a mazdaspeed 6 that remained stock, I now own a 87 Grand National and a modded Arctic Cat turbo snowmobile. I'm new to the miata world so bear with me I don't know this car and where everything is located.

Little update.

Put new new plugs in, cranked and cranked and have dry plugs.

tore into the fuel tank. Took out the pump and tried feeding it 12V, nothing.
also found the battery was bulged up after charging so that's done too,

Did you verify the TB was installed correctly? That was probably the only issue.

sounds like you have already made good progress. you might want to consider going in and making sure the timing is set correctly as described in the megasquirt documentation.

I think it's installed correctly. I don't understand what could be installed incorrectly.

it can easily be done wrong putting the cams and crank out of spec. i would grab a copy of the factory service manual from net and make sure the timing marks are aligned correctly.
