If you have ABS on the car you can do what we did here:

No abs sensor as its a NB1 and that sounds a little hard to make happen as a gps based speedo output it just power and signal its very easy

Bump for vids and driving impressions on auto. I'm about to do an auto conversion on my 99. Also, who did you get the upgrade trans parts from if you don't mind me asking?

Nice build sir!

My impression of the auto is its amazing alot smoother and more driveable than expected actually easier to drive than the manual other than it wanting to blow the tyres off

the auto place is in melbourne australia they specilize in jatco's because they are in a large 6 cyl turbo car here in oz

the issues we hit
  • converters very small had to machine up a custom balloon plate section
  • rear seal inside miata extension housing only just fits
  • input shaft depth with converter
  • drop box for shifter very tight
  • tailshaft modified to suit larger auto output shaft
Upgraded parts
  • billet input and output shaft
  • fully manualised valve body
  • stronger bands and higher line pressures
  • retained over drive
  • waiting on a higher volume cast pan
  • b&m compatable shifter brackets
i opted not to have a trans brake as i wouldnt be able to help myself

Happy to speak to the guys here if you need help i see you have a 99 aisin box which i got warned away from to hard to control as its all electronic and no available upgraded aftermarket parts

other than that all good hardest parts finding the jatco frame rail and flex plate

Wouldn't a transbrake allow you to spool up the turbo at the line before launching?

Sounds like a must-have item to me.

You want the trans brake. You won't imagine an auto drag car without one once you experience it.

We started a discussion on tires in another thread. Exactly what tire will you be using at the drag strip?
