That sensor really belongs in the back boss. Its hardly getting any circulation there.

with traditional coolant routing, sure.
with rear thermo, probably a lot less.
there's a reason most of use a spacer and keep the sensor back there

Yeah, with a rereoute I wouldn't want the coolant reading temp off only zero cylinders. It really only ever sees chilly radiator water there, plus whatever the mixing manifold adds back.

Isn't that the fan switch? Probanly never even see functionality with a stand-alone. Basically serve as a redundant fail-safe.

I'm getting confused. To be clear, that sensor was originally on the back of the head, right?

You want the sensor to be in the main water outlet that keeps getting recirculated through the motor (aka the one that goes to the heater core)

I thought you want to read the hottest place of the head, in fact the oem sensor is located in the opposite side of the main thermostat flow.

European NB's 1.6 have the NA 1.6 block, a better flowing head with mechanical lifters and the same eletronic of the 1.8 BP's: cam and crank sensors, ecu controlled fans, even the NB-fl 1.6 are OBD2

OEM sensor is in the coolant return hose line, basically.

The rear of the motor is still the hottest point in a stock coolant config, that's why we reroute.

Where you have the sensor now is never a hot side of the head, no matter what the cooling config.
