No ETD for me, not in the plans. I want to use the new FM manifold I picked up for 100 dollars. The flange face is large enough for a T3 footprint and after some nice porting it should be a perfect match for a S200sx. Spool won't be an issue, especially after seeing the new comparisons of the S series Borg Warners vs. the GTX. It's funny to see a JOURNAL bearing turbo outspool and outpower the latest and greatest from Garrett. Bonus points for being 1/2 the price and actually coming with a turbine housing.
Your old manifold is AIDS, makes fake power on fake dynos. I'm not into fake parts, bro. Killing the industry is for haters. I'm keeping my a/c

I really like this thread and your car! I have read and re read and so I ask, how are you tuning that beast? I am doing what you are doing and piecing together something, keeping it in budget and having some fun. So this gives me some ideas and more importantly some inspiration. Good work, and update this thing again! I want to see what is new with "the pelican".

I continued my build thread on Miata Forumz, but I will copy/paste it over here. Might as well.
Tuning is done with MS-PnP and my new ballin' netbook. Later this year I'll make the switch to MS3-x and take advantage of sequential fuel/ignition and all the new air conditioning shizzle they got going on.
The car has changed a lot, but it's been fun.

Build thread is here. I don't use the same name on every forum. No idea why, lol.
No numbers yet on the 2870. Haven't had the time. I'm going to Orlando in a few months and will probably take the miata and stop by a shop on the way up to make a few pulls for fun.

The classifieds are your friend.
ETD Shorty - sch.40 mild steel w/ 38mm wastegate arm
No rust, just flaking spray on coating. Has had one repair to a weld on the wastegate arm where it attaches to the collector due to improperly flattened flanges causing hot spots. Was TIG'd over and had a beefy gusset added. Flanges are already decked and flattened.
Needs a little TLC, which I can provide May even take it in the hot tub with me for some jet dick action.

That was my biggest concern but, for the price I paid...I can work around it if needed. Apparently I should be okay, but I have a Turbonetics EVOgate which might be a tad larger than the usual Tials.
If it doesn't fit I'll sell the EVOgate with my current FM3 kit and get a Tial F38 when I make the switch.
For now though, I'll probably run the same 50 trim that Brain and Underdog are currently running. I wanna keep my trans alive until I have a new block built, and by then, hopefully, I can decide between a 6spd or TII trans with that new fangled adapter.

Thank you, but I'm afraid I'll have to pass.
Yes, seriously. I'm not going to strap on a 500hp turbo and run 6 psi so I can keep my trans alive. Hopefully in a few months (maybe less, I hope), when the TII adapter becomes for sale, I can have a few choices between that and a 6spd.
But don't worry, the Holset will go on. Once MS3x is in and rockin' hard **** I'm going to start prepping the car for the new setup and have my old setup for sale. With the money from that I'll buy the new trans and have a downpipe TIG'd from some leftover pieces from my friend's downpipe I helped make for his E30. Until we get more news about the TII swap plate, I'll be using my FM3.
My plan is to use a V-band about an inch from the flange, that way I can swap the 5-bolt 50 trim for the Holset and only need flanges changed.
But, if things start to roll fast on the TII trans, I'll sell my FM kit soon and go straight to the Holset.
I'm sorry, but you have to be boosting to post in this thread.
And because I can't resist; That turbo has 100k+ miles on it. Turbine wheel intact! Fukin' genius.
