Default 1992 Turbo Miata - $4000 (Philadelphia).

Category: Import
Status: Clean Title

I have a 1992 Mazda Miata for sale, in USA - Pennsylvania.

Mileage: 211000 miles
Engine Size: 1.6L
vinJM1NA3516N0326205

Asking price is $4000

PM me

210rwhp after getting tuned. 6k miles on rebuilt bottom end.

I will try to be brutally honest about this car so there are no surprises. I don't think turbo cars are for me. I like not having minivans cut me off but I was just as happy with a stock miata on a nice twisty road.
cash or trade with cash adjustment for a powered steering & ac functioning m-edition or black and tan.

This car has been in the hands of 2 members here and sold.

No hardtop. It comes with soft top with glass window.
FM Voodoo Turbo kit GT2560R
DIYPNP by Brain
FM high flow cat
FM 2.5 turbo exhaust
RX7 460cc injectors
4.30 LSD from a '99
FM Stage 1 Clutch & stock 1.8 flywheel
Innovative LC1 WBO2 with gauge
Rota 15" wheels (I forget the name) with 195/50/15 Kumho AST
H&R Sport Springs
KYB AGX dampers
Jackson Racing solid sway bars
Racing Beat adjustable end links
Energy Suspension poly bushings (installed)
one passenger Boss Frog Door Bar
Hard Dog Hard Bar
'94-97 brake mod
Hawk HPS pads
Centric OE rotors
S/S brake lines from Moss Motors
S/S clutch line
it has no PS or AC. The PS has been fully depowered according the the FM guide.
The bottom end of the engine has been completely rebuilt and has about 6k mi on it now. Everything replaced from the head gasket down.
Key works for everything but the passenger door. It seems to click something but does not unlock.
Has the usb cable near the glove box.

Racing seat was traded for a stock seat for comfort.
It has a dent on the bottom of the car under the passenger side door. This was from a previous owner taking a turn too tightly and hitting a curb.

Issues I've had:

I still have a stumble and I end up with missing data to the TunerStudio.

My idle is at 1k-1.2k rpm.
15 percent of the time I see the idle bounce from 1.8k-2k rpm rpm

I have a small leak in one of the small coolant hoses on the left side. dripped only a little bit throughout the whole testing
Coolant clamp just needed tightening and stays dry &full but may loosen after a week.

Here's a comment on the miata from the tuners;
"we couldnt even get before numbers, the tune was 17.5 AFR almost everywhere accept idle.

just creeping into boost at 3k it was still extremely lean 17-20 afr..

very scary.

on a rich pull with less timing it made 180rwhp

cleaned up to an 11.80 and 18deg timing it did 210rwhp

i was most impressed with the 186ftlbs of tq!

car has an ignition issue though, bad hall effect sensor or crank/cam sensor
every now and then it comes out of synch with the ecu and you get junk in and junk out and it will have a tiny miss and blip the tach off and back on."

New issues:
There is a dent to the passenger quarter panel near the battery that looked banged out before I bought it. Seller(not above) said someone backed into it in a parking lot.
Had to tighten the passenger front upper control arm.
Fixed a driver side ball joint.
I hear noise/creak that sounds suspension related or control arms.

Pictures I took:
You can see the rear quarter dent in the 1st pic.

It's my DD so I'd have to find something else. I do, however, plan to sell it sometime this year in the hopes that I can get a MS3. I'm shooting to sell it to the E-stock crowd.

wheresmycar,

how often does the car go out of sync and "miss" ? I'm thinking its the CAS, didn't think the diypnp used a crank sensor.

How much boost was used to put the 210/186 numbers down?

Do you know what size FMIC that is? I suppose it's one of the three that FM supplys in their kit?

What coolant re-route is used and is the leak still present?

How long was the car driven before it was tuned, did they tune for MBT?

Got any good pictures of the soft-top and the interior?

Would you hesitate at all to drive it 300 miles south toward TN ?

Miles & Color on your R package?
I would like power steering. My turning radius isn't as tight as in my old Miata.

I'm not that mechanically inclined and not sure how a miss would feel or sound like. I don't feel a stumble except if you go WOT in second gear from about 1kRPM it will lag for a bit.

I don't remember. 18psi?

Do you know what size FMIC that is? I suppose it's one of the three that FM supplys in their kit?
I do not know. I just guessed everything was from the FM Voodoo II kit.

What coolant re-route is used and is the leak still present?
I don't know and the leak comes and goes away as I tighten the clamp. I probably just need to tighten it really tight.

How long was the car driven before it was tuned, did they tune for MBT?
I had 70-100 miles before It was tuned. MBT?

Got any good pictures of the soft-top and the interior?
No soft top pics. The hardtop is still on it. I'll work on getting pictures of that but may be some time.

Would you hesitate at all to drive it 300 miles south toward TN ?
I don't have time for that but I'm sure the car would make it.

It's at 176k right now, one shade darker than classic red. It was painted and bodywork was done about a year ago.

It's got the manual rack, so no PS

I'd be taking a risk on DD'ing a turbo car lol.
