The title probably caught your eye. "V6, that must be a typo, but I'm curious anyway." No mistake, my friend -- this is one of only a few completed V6 swapped Miatas in the world. The V6 is a very lightly modified 2.5L KL-DE (from the 626 and some other cars), putting out 180rwhp and 170rwtq in current trim. The throttle response will spoil you in ways you'd never imagined, and the exhaust note is sublime. You'll find turbo cars for sale with more maximum power, but short of a full V8 swap you won't find this much torque available on tap. The car easily passes WA emissions with flying colors and starts right up on the coldest days. This is a turnkey car, ready to drive away.

The car was originally created by Mark Snell, who put the original drivetrain in and was building the car for SSM autocross use. I bought the car from him, intending to continue the SSM project, but quickly decided to just convert it back to a street car. I've spent the last year turning it back into a great cruiser, and I can easily declare my efforts a success. I drive the car into the city fairly often, can leave it at the airport parking lot for a week, and know that it will always start in the morning.

I have a pretty stupid amount of money and time invested in the car, but I've decided to trying to focus on the SSM car build, and having two simultaneous custom miatas is getting a bit ridiculous on my poor wallet, so I'm putting the street car up for sale. It's hard to price something like this, but I'll start with asking $15,000 and see what people think about that. Jeff: Yeah. I'd finished a ton of changes (new manifold, etc.) and needed to tune it. I'd been thinking about selling it, but it still needed a dyno tune to be really drivable and sellable, so it needed to happen either way.

Does the FC bell housing bolt directly to the V6 block, or is there an adapter plate as well?

So why was teh FC bellhousing used instead of a Miata housing?

Because there's no room for the starter on the engine side with the big V6 block, so you need the FC bellhousing to move the starter to the other direction.

Somewhat knowing David and the history on this car, sure... you could hack job it for less.

There's been no shortcuts on this car (this particular car was the first "KLiata" in existence), and just keep in mind that $16k is the ASKING price. If you have an offer to make, then make the offer to him. If you aren't interested in the car, then STFU.

I think this car is better than a V8 swap, because it sounds better (IMO), didn't require replacing the entire rear end with a non-mazda setup, doesn't cost 30+k (which a normal non-hackjob V8 swap does cost), and, most importantly, doesn't light up all tires through the end of 3rd gear, so it's actually drivable. I look forward to finding someone else who understands those ideas, or I look forward to driving this car over the pass to go rock climbing in eastern washington all summer.

Definitely looks good. I'm glad to see a KLZE intake mani on there with a stock shaped hood! I have that manifold in my attic and didn't think I could make it fit...but now I see it's possible. I'll post that pic on the KL swap thread on m.net. There's 6 of us doing this swap at the moment.
