Hands down the best story I've ever read:

Univ. of Rhode Island police who responded to campus shooting scare were unarmed due to state policy

Campus police officers responded without firearms to multiple reports of a lone gunman at the University of Rhode Island (URI), on Thursday, due to a state policy that prohibits deputized campus police officers from carrying firearms on public campuses.

Cut and paste from another forum.

These Senators voted to let the UN take our guns. They need to lose any attempts at re-election. We have been betrayed.

Over the weekend, we came four votes away from the United States Senate giving our Constitutional rights over to the United Nations. In a 53-46 vote, the senate narrowly passed a measure that will stop the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.

The Statement of Purpose from the bill read:
To uphold Second Amendment rights and prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.

The U.N. Small Arms Treaty, which has been championed by the Obama Administration, would have effectively placed a global ban on the import and export of small firearms. The ban would have affected all private gun owners in the U.S., and had language that would have implemented an international gun registry on all private guns and ammo.

Astonishingly, 46 of our United States Senators were willing to give away our Constitutional rights to a foreign power.

Here are the 46 senators that voted to give your rights to the U.N.

Baldwin (D-WI)
Baucus (D-MT)
Bennet (D-CO)
Blumenthal (D-CT)
Boxer (D-CA)
Brown (D-OH)
Cantwell (D-WA)
Cardin (D-MD)
Carper (D-DE)
Casey (D-PA)
Coons (D-DE)
Cowan (D-MA)
Durbin (D-IL)
Feinstein (D-CA)
Franken (D-MN)
Gillibrand (D-NY)

Harkin (D-IA)
Hirono (D-HI)
Johnson (D-SD)
Kaine (D-VA)
King (I-ME)
Klobuchar (D-MN)
Landrieu (D-LA)
Leahy (D-VT)
Levin (D-MI)
McCaskill (D-MO)
Menendez (D-NJ)
Merkley (D-OR)
Mikulski (D-MD)
Murphy (D-CT)
Murray (D-WA) Nelson (D-FL)

Reed (D-RI)
Reid (D-NV)
Rockefeller (D-WV)
Sanders (I-VT)
Schatz (D-HI)
Schumer (D-NY)
Shaheen (D-NH)
Stabenow (D-MI)
Udall (D-CO)
Udall (D-NM)
Warner (D-VA)
Warren (D-MA)
Whitehouse (D-RI)
Wyden (D-OR)

If you happen to live in one of these states, please consider their willingness to turn over your sovereign rights to a governing body outside of the US. It's not bad enough that the federal government wants to make criminals out of its law-abiding citizens (they're the only ones laws actually effect!), now they're willing to make international criminals out of us when we stand up for our natural rights. Remember this when they start running for re-election... even a single vote to terminate your rights as a US citizen should be enough to make you want them out of office once and for all!
Both Michigan democrats are on that list. Oh wait, it's ALL democrat...

Anymore info on this?

you were surprised? You should see how many members of congress are in the progressive caucus, then read their party platform.

I'm flabbergasted that Manchin (d-WV) isn't on that. Guy may be not be as much of a tool as I thought. Still disgusted at him even talking about and attempting to support some of the current legislation in talks. Right now with the background checks he is trying to fool his constituants by saying no background checks for immediate family member sales and hunters selling to each other. Such bs.

Law Enforcement doesn't agree with these bans:

http://ddq74coujkv1i.cloudfront.net/...mmary_2013.pdf

In the poll of 15,000 law enforcement professionals, 71% of respondents said an "assault weapons" ban would have zero impact on violent crime. Of those surveyed, 95.7% said the same of a "high capacity" magazine ban, and 79.7% said the same in response to a question on universal background checks.

Over 90% of these law enforcement professionals said "mandatory sentences with no plea bargains" for those who use a gun in perpetrating a crime would reduce violent crime.

When asked if they supported concealed carry laws for citizens without a felony in their past, 91.3% of respondents answered "yes" on "without question and without further restrictions."

Additionally, 80% of these law enforcement professionals also agreed that casualties at Sandy Hook Elementary would "have likely been reduced" if "legally-armed citizens" had been in the school.

I love stories about people stealing their bikes back when the police don't care.

I recently read of a man who called the police to report the bike stolen, found the bike but the police didn't care, the man stole the bike back, then something like half a year later the police called to check-up on the case because no work was completed. The owner told the police he stole and back and then, immediately, the police returned to seize the bike from him and hold it for nearly a year while they continued the investigation to see if they could catch the thief identified by the owner. Even with name, address telephone number, emails back and forth, no arrest was made and after one year the bicycle was returned.

Moral of the story:
If you bike is stolen, watch for it on Craigslist and go steal it back, never call the cops.

acutally that also reminds me of the time our gamecube was stolen, and the theif sold it to the local game spot. we got it back the next day because we figured where criminals are dumb, lo-and-behold it was sitting on the counter, the guy just sold it to the store about an hour eariler. But they never bothered arresting the guy, even though he gave an ID to sell it and his address was across the street.

Police are there to serve and protect. They serve their interests to protect their jobs.

I wanted to press charges, they broke into our apt to steal it while I was the only one home sleeping. I could have been raped.
